I'm Colin and I'm a UK and destination wedding photographer, who shoots in a creative documentary and reportage style. I'm based in the steel city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, where I live my wife, Rae, and daughters, Ada and new arrival Meg. For the last five years, a high percentage of the weddings I’ve covered have been across the Derbyshire border in the ever beautiful Peak District, which i

s also where I spend most of my free time, either with the family or out running. I’ve also had the pleasure of travelling to the coast of Wales and the beaches of Jersey to capture some fabulous festival style weddings. I'm an easy going, friendly, approachable, music-loving, guitar-playing, mini-driving, motorbike-riding Sheffielder. I start early and finish late so as to capture the full story of your day and I do it in a friendly, discreet and unobtrusive manner. I like the post-wedding response to be “I don’t even remember him taking that!” I'm there to capture your day, not influence it. I’m always open to learning and expanding my skill set so last week I headed down to Oxfordshire to the Ignite Workshop.

Lots of chat about where wedding photography is at the moment, ideas for new things, a serious look at some gorgeous new wedding albums that’ll soon be hitting my page and also a shoot with two stunning alternative models.

I like how I capture weddings and my couples do too but playing and learning with the camera is how I got here and adding some new ideas into my shooting toolbox feels great.

So yesterday I found out this image had won a This is Reportage award!

Seriously happy with this as they’re one of the hardest awards to get. Only 60 out of 10,000 images this time around and judged by some of the worlds best documentary wedding photographers.

Do I shoot purely for awards? No.

I shoot to capture the energy and uniqueness of my couples wedding days. An award win does bring a huge geeky smile to my face though.

The image comes from When Michelle + Remus day on the coast of Wales. Whilst chatting to them they said they were planning an early morning swim with their wedding guests in the Menai Strait. I knew it’d lead to some great images, because they are a fun, outdoor loving couple and so were their guests. So at 8am people weren’t just swimming. They were diving, front flipping, and back flipping into the sea with Yr Wyddfa in the background.🤘

Lots of familiar faces at H**e & Matthew’s dance filled wedding last Saturday.

Bridal hair and flowers brilliantly colour coded, “If Your Happy and You know It” should be a wedding ceremony staple and Powerhouse Ceilidh absolutely rock!

Just found out I landed another award
AND made it onto the Top 20 Photographers of 2025 list as well 🙌

As I often do around this time of year, I sat down and looked at my blog back log.

I find the writing side of things a bit difficult it’s a rather large back log of beautiful, brilliant, individual weddings that are sat waiting to go on the website but are lacking words.

I’ve tried some Ai help but they just come back reading like they were written by a computer, not very me and not very the couples featured.

So I sat down today and set myself a goal of getting one written. I managed two and a half.

Had a trip to London on Tuesday to capture the dress rehearsal of a new musical "Bloody Mary and the Nine Day Queen". Well worth getting tickets if your in the big smoke over the next few days!

Last weekend was a double wedding weekend for me and I spent Saturday in the company of Emma & Mark and all their family and friends at Eyam Hall.

With another beautifully personalised celebrant ceremony from , garden games, live music, top tier speeches and surprise fireworks it was another brilliant day.
