Annual spring clean. Whole family participation. Nobody was happy about it, and I have never loved them more. 🫶🏻

While we were at it I realised our favourite bowl is in need of a top up - printed photos, no frames, just memories you can hold. There’s something about picking one up on a rainy morning that no Instagram scroll will ever quite replace.

If you don’t already have a memory bowl - start one today, leave it somewhere you’ll find them on a Tuesday when you need them most. Thank me in six months. 🥰

April has been spent prepping the garden and garden room for summer, we’ve dug and planted new borders, the kitchen garden has been pampered and planted. The spring bulbs did their magic, and I nurtured our bedding plants for as long as I could, but they are now safely tucked into their new homes. Summer we are ready for you and fingers crossed for no frosts. 😬🤞🏻

Easter 2026. 🐣 My mum and the Easter Bunny manage to pull off a completely unique and ridiculously fun Easter Egg hunt every year. 2026 is my favourite so far.

March’s question isn’t about motivation or discipline or becoming a better version of yourself by the end of the month.
It’s simpler than that. And more interesting.

It’s this: are you actually in your life while it’s happening?

Turns out nearly half our waking hours are spent thinking about something other than what we’re actually doing. Not here. Elsewhere. Planning the thing, dreading the other thing, replaying the conversation from three Tuesdays ago.
Joy isn’t hiding in a future version of your day. It’s in the present one. And ritual, tiny, unremarkable, completely free ritual, is how you find it.

Not a 5am club. Not a twelve-step morning. Just the quiet decision to actually be in the kitchen while you’re in the kitchen.

The full March Joy Edit is on the blog - the research, the Somerset version, and why a picnic genuinely tastes better than lunch at your desk. (Science. Actual science.)

Link in bio. Save this for when March gets noisy. 🌿

With love, Gemma x

In case you missed it, my third Joyful Almanac is now live.

This one feels like the real beginning.
Longer light. Still mud but with birdsong that sounds slightly unhinged before 7am.

We’re talking the equinox hinge. The Worm Moon (with a total lunar eclipse, because March doesn’t do subtle). Daffodils behaving theatrically. Frogspawn wobbling with ambition. The exact moment you realise it was still light at five and it adds a skip to your step.

It’s not about reinventing yourself.
It’s about noticing what’s already shifting.
If you’re craving a slower, more seasonal way to move through the month - the full March Joyful Almanac is waiting on the blog.

Tea highly recommended while reading. Muddy boots optional but encouraged.

Love, Gemma x

Thirteen today - our mountain biking, basketball + go-kart energy, with the serious dedication of an American sweets connoisseur, Harry 🍬
Also an avid collector of . . . honestly, anything not nailed down.

Here’s to a new chapter: more laughs, more adventures, more muddy wheels . . . and definitely more sweets.

Love you endlessly. Happy birthday, Harry. 🎂🎉 ~ 1.3.13 at 3.13pm and today you turn 13.

The longest month of the year is over!! 👋 Hello, March.

I’m expecting sunshine, respectable picnics, and at least one day where I leave the house without checking the weather app three times . . . Don’t let me down!

Swipe for my reasons to love this muddy, brilliant, slightly unpredictable month, including bird drama, coat confusion, and that light at five we will absolutely be discussing.

See you outside. 🌼

Ps: My full Joyful Almanac for March - from the equinox hinge to the Worm Moon and everything stirring beneath our boots - is now live on the blog. Can you believe I’ve actually done this three months in a row!?!? Me neither! 😂🎉🤩
