Sheringham in The Telegraph 📣
Always great to see our town getting some national love — this time in The Telegraph, which published a feature calling Sheringham “pleasingly real” in contrast to the over-gentrified or struggling spots along the coast.
The article (paywalled, but here’s the gist) highlights:
– Sheringham’s resilience in keeping its identity while still welcoming change
– Independent businesses like Stubby’s and The Gangway leading a quiet modernisation
– The fantastic community-run Little Theatre, now supported by actress Suranne Jones
– Local favourites like the Poppy Line railway, our famous crab, and spots like Camellia Cottage
– A shoutout to our year-round community and those working to keep the town thriving

National recognition like this isn’t just nice — it’s important. Sheringham thrives on tourism, and hopefully, this brings even more people to experience what we’re lucky enough to enjoy every day.

My 2 cents as a local photographer and business owner:
I’ve always loved that Sheringham still feels like a real place — where people know each other, shop locally, and pitch in when it matters. That sense of community especially shines through in winter, when many seaside towns feel empty — but Sheringham doesn’t.
It’s also encouraging to see a bit of modernisation creeping in through new businesses and ideas. We do need to keep moving forward, but it’s the independent shops and micro-businesses — the ones who grind through the off-season — that give the town its heart.

Sheringham has managed to dodge the social issues seen in so many of our seaside towns, without losing its soul to gentrification
