Shortlisted. Again. 🖤💙🤍

Two consecutive years. Two wins.
And now, a third time running.

Dissolve has made the shortlist for the British Photography Awards in Self Portrait category.

This one means a little more. Not just because of the two wins behind it, but because Dissolve is a piece that sits very close to what I’m trying to explore through my work: what is real, what is performed, and where the line between the two begins to disappear.

Love reveals itself in the moments that carry no performance. The kind of connection that asks for nothing and proves nothing.

Photography becomes most meaningful to me when it moves beyond posing and settles into something unguarded. Something that reminds us how powerful human connection can be when it is allowed to flow naturally.

Perhaps that is why certain images stay with us long after we have looked away.

Photography chose me before I fully chose it.

What began as curiosity in Lagos eventually became a life built around one question.

How do you capture a moment in a way that when someone puts it on their wall, it changes the feeling of the room they are standing in?

That question has taken me across continents, through cultures and into conversations I never could have predicted from where the journey started.

I am Oluwadamilola Taiwo, a photographer, visual storyteller and founder of Dami Taiwo Photography and Dreamsonwall.
