Your baby won’t remember their photoshoot.

And actually… that’s one of the reasons I love doing them.

They won’t remember what they wore.
They won’t remember being cuddled.
They won’t remember how tiny they were.

But one day, they might look at those photographs and ask:

“Was that me?”

And you’ll be able to tell them about that little person they used to be.

So don’t think of a baby photoshoot as something for your baby to remember.

It’s something for their future selves — and for you. 🤍

If you could show your grown-up children one photograph from their baby days, what would you want it to be?

Can I give you one piece of advice if you’re thinking about booking baby photos?

Don’t keep waiting for the “right” moment.

Wait until they sleep better.
Wait until their eczema clears.
Wait until you’ve got your routine sorted.
Wait until you’ve lost a bit of baby weight.
Wait until life feels less chaotic.

The problem is… there will always be something.

And meanwhile, your baby is changing.

So instead of waiting for everything to be perfect, let’s photograph this version of your family.

The tired version.
The cuddly version.
The slightly chaotic version.
The version where you’re figuring it all out as you go.

Because that’s real life — and it deserves to be remembered too. 🤍

Be honest… what’s the one thing you’ve been waiting to “sort out” before booking your family photos?

I’ve photographed babies who seem to know exactly where the camera is.

And I’ve photographed babies whose main goal in life was to escape the blanket, grab someone’s hair and investigate absolutely everything in sight!

And honestly?

I love both.

Because your baby’s personality is changing all the time.

That determined little frown.
That huge gummy grin.
The curious eyes.
The constant wriggling.
The expression they pull when they’re concentrating.

Don’t wish those things away because they aren’t “perfect”.

One day, those funny little quirks will be exactly what you miss.

Tell me — what’s your baby’s current personality in three words? 👇

A little reminder for mums who have been scrolling Pinterest before their photoshoot…

You do NOT need to recreate someone else’s baby photos.

Your baby doesn’t need the exact outfit.
Your nursery doesn’t need to look like a magazine.
And your family doesn’t need to pose exactly like the family you saw online.

The best photographs usually happen when we stop trying to make everything look “perfect” and concentrate on your family.

Your cuddles.
Your personalities.
Your connection.
Your slightly chaotic reality. 😂

So instead of asking, “What should we copy?”

Ask yourself:

“What do I want to remember about us?”

That’s where the magic is. ❤️

What’s one little thing about your family that you’d love captured?

“But what if my baby cries during the photoshoot?”

Honestly?

They probably will. 😂

And that’s completely okay.

A baby photoshoot isn’t a test your little one has to pass. There’s no prize for the baby who stays asleep for two hours and smiles at exactly the right moment!

We can stop for feeds.
We can have cuddles.
We can change nappies.
We can take a break.
We can follow their lead.

Some of the sweetest images can come from the moments in between the “perfect” photos.

So if the only thing stopping you from booking is the thought “My baby won’t behave”…

You really don’t need to worry about that here. 🤍

What’s your biggest worry about having photos taken with your baby? Tell me below — I promise you’re probably not the only one!

Welcome to the world, beautiful baby Ivy!

What a gorgeous shoot with Laura and her lovely little family — and, of course, Percy, who I’ve had the pleasure of photographing in the studio for both his newborn and older baby photos.

It was such a pleasure to see you all again and to capture these precious memories as your family grows.

Ivy was an absolute joy — so beautiful, content and adored. 💕

Wishing you all so much love and happiness as you begin this wonderful new chapter together.

The Phone Camera Challenge

Mums, I have a little challenge for you this week… 📱

Go into your camera roll and search for photos of your baby.

Now count how many of them actually include you.

I’ll wait. 👀😂

We’re brilliant at documenting our children, but somehow we’re always the one holding the camera.

So this week, hand your phone to your partner, your mum, your friend — anyone — and get in a few photos together.

They don’t need to be perfect.

And if you want something a little more beautiful and intentional, that’s exactly what professional photos are for. ❤️

Be honest… are you usually the photographer or the person actually in the photos?

A little tip for mums of older babies…

Stop trying to recreate the newborn stage.

Your 6-month-old doesn’t need to lie perfectly still. Your 9-month-old doesn’t need to cooperate. Your 12-month-old certainly doesn’t need to sit there and smile on command!

Instead, let’s photograph who they are right now.

The cheeky grin.
The serious little face.
The grabbing.
The crawling away from me at top speed. 😂
The way they look at you when you walk into the room.

Those things are them.

So, if your baby is no longer a tiny newborn, don’t think you’ve “missed the window” for beautiful photos.

In fact, some of my favourite sessions happen when babies are old enough to really show their personalities.

What stage is your little one at right now — newborn, sitting, crawling or walking? 👇

Mum Guilt

Can we talk about the mum guilt that comes with baby photos? 👀

You don’t need a perfectly tidy house.
You don’t need to have lost the baby weight.
You don’t need to know exactly what to do in front of the camera.

And your baby definitely doesn’t need to sleep through their entire photoshoot!

My biggest piece of advice? Don’t wait until you feel “ready”. You’ll probably spend the first few months waiting for a version of life that doesn’t exist yet. 😅

Come as you are, bring the baby as they are, and let’s make some memories around the beautiful chaos.
