Quite randomly I've just seen an amateur choir at my local pub sing a version of Baba Yetu, which has quite vividly taken me back to this shoot with composer Christopher Tin before he conducted the first ever live performance of the piece at the International Eisteddfod.
Christopher was a lovely chap and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him for these pictures and he was a very game collaborator for a couple of my more unorthodox ideas.
I ended up in the crowd for the final performance some weeks later and it was an absolutely spellbinding evening. Such powerful music and masterfully staged.

From the archives from my first visit to the Elan Valley. Chris Samuel and .it.have.dinosaurs.in needed a lift across Wales to get to an un-advertised festival that sounded suspiciously like an o**y at a cult, and I love giving people lifts to places, so we went, on the condition that I got to look at some dams (as it was my birthday).
It had been raining for weeks and the force of the water coming over the top at Caban Coch is really hard to describe, it was hard to stand up at the bottom. I've been back many times since and have never seen it even close to this. It's always beautiful, and overwhelming in scale, but I do long to experience the majesty of the falls again.

Was nice to see this bottle appear at our shoot a couple of months ago. My father was a big Mercurey fan and it was a staple of the wine list at his bar for decades.
