I stopped for this photo because of how ordinary it seemed.

A duck resting in the grass, completely unaware of me, carrying on with its day.

As photographers, it’s easy to chase the perfect image, but I’ve been thinking more about the responsibility that comes with photographing wildlife. Not every animal needs to be approached. Not every moment needs to be interrupted.

Sometimes the most rewarding images come from respecting the distance and documenting what was already happening.

May has been one of those months that reminds me why I carry a camera.Busy days, small adventures, and moments that would have passed unnoticed if I hadn’t stopped to look.

A few favourites from the journey so far 📷

Some weekends just slow you down a little.
Watching the railway roll along the coastline with views like this was one of those moments. Steam drifting across the water, the sound carrying through the bay, and a reminder to appreciate the places and moments around us.
Safe to say we had a pretty great view for the weekend.

There’s something grounding about watching animals simply exist.

No rush. No noise. Just small moments that make the world feel a little bigger again.

Moments like these remind me that we exist alongside them, not above them.

The lynx has always been different for me.

There’s something about them… quiet, watchful, almost ghost-like.

Right now I photograph moments like this and imagine what it would feel like to one day see — and photograph — a lynx moving through wild British woodland again.

Not just as a memory of what we lost… but as part of the landscape once more.

Once hunted. Now forgotten.

It’s strange to think wolves once moved through the same forests we walk today. Now, remembering them may be the closest we ever come to seeing them return.
