Sunderland City Centre │ Part Two │ Vaux & Minster Quarter

Many of Sunderland finest Edwardian buildings are located in this area such as The Empire Theatre, Dun Cow and the recently restored Fire Station, which is now home to Dance City, a bar and a new theatre/music venue.

The new City Hall situated on the Vaux Site is nearly complete with more offices, homes and a new footbridge over the Wear to follow connecting to more development on the land surrounding the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland City Centre │ Part One │ Sunniside & Fawcett St

The original old town, once the thriving heart of Sunderland and although so much of it is now gone there are still buildings dating back to the 1700s. Massive regeneration is taking place to bring this part of the city centre back to life such as Mackie's Corner, Pop Recs and numerous new bars and there are plans to build new town houses at the centre of a new arts community too.

The new City Hall in Sunderland nearly complete on the Vaux site, with two more office buildings and a new footbridge to follow, all going to make a huge difference to the City Centre. Opposite at Keel Square, the new Holiday Inn is under construction with a Library & Culture building coming too
