New Forest Camera Club

New Forest Camera Club Welcome to the New Forest Camera Club page. We are a small friendly club located between To -- So what is a camera club all about?

It may not be what you think. The title Camera Club is perhaps not the most appropriate name because actually very limited time is devoted to the camera itself. At New Forest Camera Club members try to improve their photographic skills and we present our work for critique by an expert judge in a number of competitions throughout the season. The most important things for all of us at New Forest are

to enjoy what we are doing and to have fun! We meet every Thursday from 7:30PM - 10PM from the beginning of September to the end of May at the Colbury Memorial Hall. For directions to the building, please use the above map or go to the links page on our website.

Yesterday was the Southern Counties Photographic Federation year end finals held at Littleton near Wi******er. The top scoring images from all the leagues go head to head and a judge decides which projected image and which print they decide are the best of the best.
Ferg Cowhig from New Forest had the highest scoring print this year, in fact he got 2 bites at the cherry as both of his entries had the same score.
He received commended for both the entries on the day which are shown below.

Last night we had our Quiz of the Year and a buffet for the members as it was our last club night before the Christmas break. As always it was a great fun night with lots of banter as usual.
It was a great evening and thanks to Sue and Dave for putting it all together for us.
The winning team this year was "The Famous Five" who win the cup (ashes urn)

Interesting Sunday in Wi******er where New Forest organised a print workshop at Littleton on behalf of the SCPF with Fotospeed and Chris Palmer. The workshop covered all aspects of printing including choice of paper and processing of images. Fotospeed had all their papers on offer on the day, so it was a great opportunity to get a discount. Great to catch up with folks from other clubs in our region.
Something for everyone. Hopefully we can help with further events in future.

Yesterday NFCC hosted the Southern Counties Photographic Federation at our venue in Colbury.
It was an excellent day and everything ran smoothly as we showed the best of the best from the clubs in our region in both PDI and Print.
The top 2 clubs get to enter a national club competition held in Warwick for PDI and Blackburn for Print.
Sadly we didn't quite make it this year with a 3rd place in PDI and a 5th after countback in prints.
Congratulations to Chichester and Yately who picked up the top 2 spots in both sections.

First club night back in 2025 and we have a members evening to test a self judging solution. I hope we have a good turn out despite the threat of ice this evening.
Updates to follow.

Today was the National Inter Club Championships held in Warwick. The top two clubs in our region went on to represent the Southern Counties for Projected Images.
This competition is for the top clubs in GB and NI so the fact that New Forest qualified with Southampton CC is a great achievement with circa 900 clubs in total.
The competition is held over 2 rounds followed by a "Top 8-10" shoot out for "The Final" and an secondary competition called "The Plate" for every one else.
We didn't make the final which is no great surprise given the opposition, however we did manage 4th place in the plate amongst some stiff competition, just 4 points off the top spot.
Southampton managed 11th in the plate and we can both feel as if we have given a good account of ourselves on behalf of the Southern Counties.

I have the results for the Inter Federation Champs. Not too good for Southern Counties this year I'm afraid and also New Forest didn't fare as well as as in previous years. Hopefully next year with the event being hosted in the South, we can hope for a better showing. I'll post the link to the on line catalogue when it is available.
Mono - SCPF were 5th
Colour - SCPF were 9th
Nature - SCPF were equal 3rd
