🍛 Finding Restaurants Worth Your Time & Money ❤️

Have you tried JT Akshaya yet? We can't wait to go back. It was stunning.

The food is a little different from what you might expect from a typical Indian restaurant. JT Akshaya specialises in authentic South Indian and Sri Lankan flavours, mixing familiar favourites such as Chicken Madras and Kashmiri Rogan Josh with dishes you might not have tried before — including speciality Dosas, flaky Parottas, crispy Mutton Rolls and Yogurt Chaat Bombs. Their menu is designed to bring traditional flavours into a more contemporary dining experience, so it's a great place to be a little adventurous and order something completely new. 🍛🥘

They now have TWO locations in the North West — Liverpool and Southport — specialising in authentic South Indian and Sri Lankan food, alongside some of the Indian favourites we're probably more familiar with.

And people certainly seem to like them…

We visited the Southport restaurant and one of the first things you notice is the interior — blossom trees, greenery, atmospheric dining areas and a huge aquarium. It's definitely not your typical Indian restaurant!

The menu also gives you the opportunity to move away from your usual curry and try something different, with dishes including Dosas, Parottas, Mutton Rolls and Yogurt Chaat Bombs.

With two locations now to choose from, this could be one to add to your list if you're around Liverpool or Southport.

🌊 Does A Drink Just Taste Better By The Sea? 🍹

Give us a harbour, a sea view and somewhere to sit with a drink and we’re happy.

There’s something about watching the boats, listening to the water and having absolutely nowhere you need to rush off to.

It doesn’t need to be an expensive day out either — sometimes one drink with a great view is all you need.

🌊 Finding Food With A View Worth Your Time & Money ❤️

We stopped at The Harbourfront Bistro at Newry Beach in Holyhead and went for something a little different — a selection of tapas-style small plates to share.

And this is exactly why we love this way of eating. 😍

Rather than choosing ONE big meal, you get to order a few different dishes, put everything in the middle and try a bit of each.

Add in the waterfront location overlooking Holyhead harbour and it makes for a lovely relaxed place to sit, eat and enjoy the surroundings.

Although there is always one problem with sharing plates…

🍹 Do You Always Need Alcohol On A Day Out?

Something we've started doing more often is choosing a non-alcoholic drink when we're out.

There are so many more interesting alternatives now that it doesn't have to mean settling for a fizzy drink or orange juice. Mocktails, 0% beers and cider, alcohol-free spritzes and other grown-up alternatives are becoming much more common.

You still get the nice glass, the flavours and that feeling of having something a little special — just without the alcohol.

And sometimes that's exactly what we want when we're spending the whole day exploring.
