Sometimes life gets in the way, and that's absolutely okay.

Little Abraham joined me last week for the first session of his Baby Plan. Although they missed the newborn stage, it's never too late to start capturing these precious milestones. Instead, we'll be documenting his journey at 4 months, 8 months and his first birthday - and if this first session is anything to go by, it's going to be such a beautiful collection.

The tiniest game of peekaboo had Abraham giving me the biggest grins and the sweetest little baby babbles. He was such a joy to photograph, and his gorgeous personality shone through in every image.

Oakley turned one on Friday, and today we marked the occasion with the sweetest cake smash session. Between singing If You're Happy and You Know It, lots of clapping, big smiles and plenty of cake, he reminded us exactly why these sessions are so special.

The first year is full of moments you'll never forget... but it also passes in the blink of an eye. That's why I love cake smash sessions so much. They're not really about the cake (although that part is pretty fun! 🎂). They're about celebrating your baby's personality exactly as they are right now before they move on to the next chapter.

Oakley brought the smiles, the laughter and the cheeky charm, and I'm so glad we could capture it all for his family to look back on for years to come.

Parents created handprint and footprint pottery keepsakes while I photographed the little people they were trying so hard to keep tiny forever.

The answer is very little.

Everything is prepared for you before you arrive, from wraps and blankets through to the styling of your images.

Your only job is to arrive, feed your baby if needed, and relax.

Newborn sessions are designed to be calm, unhurried and completely baby-led.
