It's the time of year when giant hogweed spikes are rising up from riverbanks and field edges across Scotland. Before I could photograph the work to control them on the River Tay, I had to get a biohazard suit on too.
Giant hogweed sap causes severe burns and blisters on contact with sunlight. On a warm summer day in full protective gear, carrying a camera instead of a two-metre saw, I had a lot of respect for Mark Purrmann-Charles who does this every day.
Shot for BBC Countryfile Magazine with journalist Richard Baynes, documenting the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative's work to eradicate one of the UK's most dangerous plants.
