Yesterday was something pretty damn special.
For the 169th Sutton Fair, I was given the incredible honour of judging the Junior and Senior Fair Ambassador competitions alongside Sarah Forget and Amanda Stewart—and honestly, it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will stay with me.
I have lived in this community for more than 30 years, and the Sutton Fair is sacred hometown tradition. But yesterday reminded me that it is about so much more than the rides and, of course, the food.
It is about family.
It is about farming and agriculture.
It is about community.
And it is about traditions being lovingly passed from one generation to the next.
These young women showed up with such vulnerability, strength, courage and heart. We laughed. We danced. We cried. And watching their parents and families look on with so much pride was incredibly moving.
Many of these contestants once stood on that fairground as babies in the baby contest. One day, they may return with babies of their own. That is the magic of the Sutton Fair. Generations of families keep coming back, carrying these traditions forward—and some traditions are absolutely worth nurturing, protecting and holding onto. This is certainly one of them.
Thank you to Emma, the Fair President, for entrusting me with such an important role. Being able to sponsor this event and give back through my photography is a true honour.
And to every young woman who stood up there yesterday: you were brave, you were beautiful, and you made your families and your community incredibly proud.
Please ask me back next year—because my answer is already a great big HELL YES! ❤️
