Autumn is knocking on the door and so are teenager/senior photo shoots.

This is a great time of year for location shoots thanks to beautiful colours, the shorter days (think warm sunsets at 4pm), quieter schedules and Autumn wardrobes.

Another favourite part of this tail end of the year, is all the teenager shoots! Either marking their final year at school or preparing an image for their yearbook - either way I love the creativity that comes with these shoots

Summer isn't over yet - but autumn bookings are already in full swing.

I’m predicting we may have an early autumn due to such a hot summer, so if you've been meaning to book a session and keep not quite getting around to it, now is actually a good time. September and October go fast, and the outdoor locations are spectacular in autumn light.

Back to school is a few weeks away.

Before you get there - before the new uniform and the earlier mornings and the whole thing starting again - it's worth stopping and noting what this summer actually looked like. Who they were right now. How they laughed. What they were obsessed with this week.

That's what I do.

Sibling portraits are genuinely my favourite.

Not because they're easy - they're very much not. But because the moments that happen between brothers and sisters when they stop being watched are just something else. The bossiness. The silliness. The moments where they forget they're supposed to find each other annoying.

That's the stuff I'm here for.

School's out. Which means absolute chaos at home - and also the best portraits of the year.

No uniform. No schedule. Just kids being kids, in the best possible light. Summer is genuinely my favourite time to shoot.

People always ask me what a lavender shoot is actually like.

Honestly? It's a bit chaotic, slightly scratchy underfoot, and the bees are absolutely unbothered by you being there. But the photos. The photos make the whole thing worth it.
