"Learn, Explore, Capture, Create"

Last week was all about helping a child to discover the wonders of nature through photography on a new Family Photography Day in the New Forest 🌳

It was absolutely mindblowing to see how a 9 year old grasped the world of ISOs, Apertures and Shutter Speeds so quickly using both Nikon and Sony d-SLR and Bridge cameras and created incredible images in just a few hours at his first attempt 🙌

The course helped to develop observation, creativity, patience and storytelling skills as well as connecting him and his mum to the wildlife.

I LOVED every minute of it and was sooooo touched to receive this message:

"Thank you so much for a great day, we learnt so much. Thomas has been using Aperture Priority Mode since he came back."

HUGE well done Thomas, can't wait to share the images with you all 🙌

"The Kind of Gift You Never Stop Smiling At"

Yesterday Cathy caught me at the studio, asking if I could help turn her favourite image of her furbaby into a canvas print.

I checked it over, removing distracting overhead lights, leads and dust spots, lightening her left eye to match the right before hand stretching it here with care and sealing it with artists tape on the back 💕

I'd forgotten how much I love helping turn guests' images into more than just a print, working with them to make it look the best it can be. It's all ready for her to collect in just a few hours.

"Capture the Wild"

Yesterday was one of the most special days of my 20 year teaching photography career helping Jonny develop his wildlife photography skills in a new 4 hr course with his Canon M50 and a 70-200 mm lens.

Jonny works for Great Ormond Street, which is the hospital which rebuilt my head when it was smashed against the windscreen of a police car at the tiny age of 3 🙌

In less than an hour we covered all the essentials of ISOs, Apertures and Shutter Speeds to cover both Landscaoe and Wildlife Subjects.

In just 3 attempts using Manual Mode for the first time, he nailed the owl shot shown here, and carried on building a stunning portfolio growing in confidence and skills. Perfect shots with no editing needed 🙌

Super proud that he left the course super happy and full of new-found knowledge along with his father-in-law who I helped recently.

"Random Act of Kindness"

I think every day should be a kindness day and today definitely put a smile on my face helping little Cynthia 💕

Except there's nothing little about her, as she's a whopping 93 years young and walked all the way from Victoria Avenue for her much looked forward to pedicure this morning. Except there was no-one there 😞

So she received this as a birthday present to show that there is still kindness 💕

Ahhhh how lovely was it to welcome so many visitors from up north today and then returning guests.

Making our community smile is super important to me and when I heard that a relative is poorly, I promised to write a Get Well message in German 🇩🇪 to surprise her. Inge chose her favourite Swanage scene from my range and all I need to do is add chocolate 🍫

Can't wait to send her canvas gift this week.
