This one started with a bit of fabric, a complete lack of overthinking… and the same energy that starts most bad ideas

No moodboard, No deep creative speech, Just “this could work” and the confidence to not talk ourselves out of it.

A few questionable decisions later… and suddenly it’s looking like we planned it all along. Nothing deep… Just pushing it far enough that it works.

And for a minute it doesn’t feel like work… just people making something that actually matters.

Fully dressed in black…£5k+ worth of gear on them…
Standing off to the side like this waiting to be let in like a dog who’s just heard the lead come out!!

No talking.
No eye contact.

Just a shared understanding of… “it’s nearly time.”

Then the second that barrier moves… Different people

There’s a moment when you meet someone else doing this full time…

And you can just tell immediately… they’re built a bit different.

Same energy. Same obsession…Same “this probably isn’t normal but it’s working so we move” mindset.

Just a mutual understanding of “yeah… we’re not wired like everyone else.” 🤪

And honestly… good! Because the normal route looked boring anyway.

I was literally just there to open the studio… maybe sort a light or two… be useful for once.

Then this walks in… And you know when your brain does that thing where it goes “don’t get involved… not your job…STAY IN YOUR LANE!!!”

…and your hands are already on the camera before you’ve finished the thought.

Yeah… I lasted about 3 minutes. There’s a certain type of setup where standing still just feels wrong. Like you’re watching something you should be part of… just too good to leave alone!

So… I got involved.

No plan. No brief. No permission… Just instinct and a bit of poor self control (of course) Happens more than I’d like to admit!! 📸

UK Tattoo Fest with .

Rows of artists calmly stabbing people all weekend
while hundreds stand around watching… Strangely civilized when you think about it!

Rows of artists locked in for hours…
Machines buzzing non-stop…
Crowds watching every line go in…

When the culture is real, the energy does all the work… I just try to keep up.
