🌌✨ Milky Way Magic Over Coate Water ✨🌌
This is a photograph I have been planning for some time, taken just before 2am this morning (Sunday 18 May 2025). Last night's crystal clear sky coincided with the moon not rising until much later in the night. That made it a perfect opportunity to photograph the Milky Way — and Coate Water Lake made the ideal backdrop. 🌠🌿
This shot captures the galaxy stretching across the sky like a cosmic river, mirrored by the stillness of the lake below. It's humbling to see such beauty hiding above us, just waiting for the right moment to be revealed.
📸 Late spring (especially May!) offers some of the clearest skies for astrophotography — less humidity, longer nights, and the galactic core rising at just the right time.
