After the forecast said clear skies I headed out to Portland Bill a few weeks ago when we were in Dorset. The clouds were not really playing ball though so I just had to sit and wait in the dark hoping they would clear. Thankfully I managed to get a 15 minute window.
Quite a difficult place to shoot the Milky Way as the lights from the lighthouse rotate every 8 seconds and render the milkyway impossible to see. So I had to time the shots perfectly, normally I would be shooting for much longer exposures.
This is actually 3 images from the same spot, 1- rocks and sea, 2- Milky Way and 3- lighthouse beams then merged together
