Taunton Photography Group are pleased to announce that on 7th September, Robert Harvey BA ARPS EFIAP will be presenting his talk entitled “Britain’s best landscapes and how to photograph them”.

The talk includes details such as planning your shot, visualising the image and how things such as colour, light and weather can create an innovative composition

All welcome, there will be a door charge for non members of £5

The event will be held at BACH at 7pm.

If you’re in Taunton and need somewhere to grab a coffee or lunch, then check out the Without Borders cafe at Riverside. And while you’re there, pop into their gallery to see some great images by local photographer Raoul Wedge-Thomas. He really has a great eye for a photograph.

Taunton Photography Group have had a great summer, we’ve been on plenty of photoshoots together, learning from each other, trying new things and honing our skills in all sorts of genres. We’ve also tested out several pubs and cafes along the way!! (Well, refreshment breaks are so important, plus…. it’s fun to sit and chat with like minded friends !) We are now getting ready to start our new season. Why not come along to our welcome evening and see what fun we have planned in our new program.

Its comments like this one from a new member on our members-only WhatsApp group that bring a smile to my face. We are all here to learn from one another and to support each other in our endeavours. It’s such a joy when someone new to photography is really participating and getting so much from it.

Sometimes a trip away from home brings a special photographic memory that will last a lifetime ! Karen headed off to Iceland with her husband, to see if she could capture the total eclipse (Iceland was in the path of totality). Here’s a shot of the eclipse she managed to capture with the edge of the chromosphere visible.

Proving that persistence pays off. Member Peter Williams made a return trip to Burnham to photograph the Low Lighthouse during the solar eclipse, and was rewarded with this post-eclipse sunset. Cracking shot.

Our formal season runs from the beginning of September to the end of May the following year. But we don’t stop meeting during June/July/August. Instead we get out with our cameras for some social get-togethers which also include some photography.

Congratulations to member Pauline Watling who won the Somerset Gazette Cup for the individual with most points at this year’s Taunton Flower Show. She had 6 out of 8 accepted with 2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd and 1 x Very Highly Commended.
