You ever have a trip that makes you entirely rethink how much gear you carry?

About a week before this trip I had bought myself a Sigma 24-70 Art- my grail lens. I was insanely excited to use it.

This set of shots were taken on the final day of my Vancouver trip, when it suddenly dawned on me… I’d not used any single other one of the lenses I’d brought with me.

After this trip I only ever carried my other lenses if there was a specific need- that itself was rare.

Taught me a lot about cutting down and carrying just the essentials.

A brief moment of peace in between the chaos

I remember I had no more than about 20 seconds to get this photo on a boat to Toronto Island. I knew I wanted it as I was getting on.

I sat there the entire boat journey hoping I may have the chance. I made sure I was last off the boat.

I sprinted down the stairs and stood ready. The last person passed me and that when the greatest luck of all time happened. As they passed me, the sun just happened to blast through the old, dirty windows. It created these insane hazey rays of light.

I often can’t believe the luck I had here, but that pocket of time, that twenty seconds of just me, the boat and the quietness- I’ll remember that feeling forever.
