Micah & Ben 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

A twilight wedding. A TVR. Family over from the States. An epic BBQ. And one hell of a sunset.

It had been a few years since I’d been back to The Albright Hussey in Shrewsbury, so it was lovely to return!

Micah was quite possibly one of the happiest, giddiest brides I’ve ever photographed. These two were just so damn excited to finally be getting married.

The way they look at each other. The way they talk about each other. It was impossible not to smile.

A beautiful outdoor ceremony, some seriously good food, and a manic dash out for those last few minutes of sunset.

It paid off.

Two brilliant people, a brilliant day, and a lovely one to be part of 🫶🏻

Well, after what feels like months of waiting for it, the rain has finally arrived in the UK ☔️

So it felt like a good time to talk about something that comes up a lot with weddings...

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀?

Honestly, not much.

Your wedding still happens. Your guests still dance. You still get married. You still have an incredible day.

And from a photography point of view, rain can actually give you some pretty bloody lovely moments.

Some of my favourite wedding photos have involved rain, whether that’s running through it, hiding under an umbrella, getting caught in a downpour or simply embracing the fact that the weather has done whatever the hell it wanted.

You can’t control the weather.

But you can control how much you let it affect your day 🤍

Imagine being married for 50 years and still looking at each other like this 🤍

That’s Irene & Paul.

They recently renewed their vows at The Shropshire in Telford, surrounded by their family and friends, for the big celebration they never really had the chance to have the first time around.

And what a celebration it was!

But honestly, the thing that stood out most was these two… That unmistakable chemistry that tells you everything you need to know about two people who have spent a lifetime together.

I even had the privilege of seeing their original wedding album from 50 years ago. Amazing!

The seventh hole also held a special meaning, as they took a photograph there in memory of their son.

Here’s to Irene & Paul, and another chapter of a pretty incredible love story 🤍

Charlotte & Harry 🤍

A gorgeous 1800s mill. Lush flowers. A Porsche. Ridiculously delicious food. An amazing cake. And one hell of a band!

This was their wedding day and it began at The Coach House in Derby (stunning by the way!), before a short journey across to The River Mill, set within the historic Darley Abbey Mills complex alongside the River Derwent.

What a place!

Charlotte and Harry filled it with exactly the right people, atmosphere and amount of fun! Awesome people, an awesome day, and a wedding that just felt right for them.

𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗢𝗧 🔥

Some weddings stick with you… This one definitely did, although I’m fairly sure the 34°C had something to do with it 😂

Four years ago today, these two got married on one seriously hot day, surrounded by brilliant people, plenty of love, a fair amount of sweat and, thankfully, a lot of cold drinks.

Looking back through these photographs today, it’s the people and the moments that stand out most.

When everyone wants to hug you, congratulate you and tell you how happy they are for you!

It can be a little overwhelming, but it’s also full of so much love, happiness and those little moments you probably don’t even realise are happening.

And that’s exactly why I love photographing it ❤️

The little moments really do matter.
