UK Snow Update.❄️.

This map gives an indication as to expected snowfall accumulations from Thursday evening & Friday morning snow event.

As you can see, quite varied amounts expected. The heaviest snow likely to be in a swathe from central Wales, through the central North Midlands into The Peak District. Here, 10-20cm of snow can be expected at lower levels, with 20-30cm, possibly locally 40cm on hills.

This zone could shift south a little, in the next 24hours, hence the 50% chance of some snow towards the Home Counties. Snow amounts will be varied in Northern England due to the rain shadow on the west of the Pennines, and a warm layer of air near the coast. Over and on the eastern side of the Pennines, areas such as Sheffield & Leeds are likely to see 2-8cm of snow. Less in Manchester due to the rainshadow, & more towards the Wirral, North East Wales, central Wales, 5-10cm, with 20-30cm for a swathe, particularly on higher ground.

Some snow is possible further south, particularly from Devon, acorss the M4 corridor and towards the Home Counties. 2-5cm is possible, but not a guarantee. The higher snow totals further north are much more certain.
