One of the things I love most about photographing families is that it’s never really about getting everyone to smile at the camera.

Yes, I always make sure to get those all important group photos, but it’s the moments in between that I’m drawn to - the laughter, the hugs, the little conversations and the way people naturally gravitate towards each other.

This lovely 80th birthday celebration was full of those moments. It was such a joy to capture a family simply enjoying being together, and I hope these photographs bring back those memories for many years to come.
