“Where the Mountain Meets the Wreck” — Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📸

For years I’d seen photos of the Corpach Shipwreck beneath Ben Nevis and always hoped I’d get the chance to photograph it myself. During a two-week trip around bonnie wee Scotland, that moment finally came.

With dark clouds rolling in and rain not far behind, I found my composition beside a small stream flowing into the loch and got down low to capture the rushing water leading towards the wreck.

Then, just as everything was set, the sun briefly fought its way through the clouds, casting an almost perfect spotlight across the old ship while Ben Nevis began to catch the light behind it.

It only lasted a moment, but sometimes that’s all you need. Years of waiting, one fleeting bit of Highland light, and a shot I’d dreamed of finally in the bag. 📸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Meadow’s Little Fox Cub, Buckinghamshire 📸🦊

Some photographs stay with you forever, and I think this might be one of them.

In the middle of June, I joined a workshop with Jack Lodge on some private land in Buckinghamshire. After settling into the hide, we spent a few hours watching the adult foxes come and go, enjoying some fantastic wildlife encounters.

Then, out of nowhere, this little fox cub appeared.

For a few magical moments, it stood in the meadow, gazing up at the red kites circling overhead. Bathed in beautiful evening light, it gave me the perfect opportunity to capture this image before disappearing back into the long grass.

When I got home and started editing, I knew straight away this photograph was something special. The light, the pose, and the moment all came together perfectly.

Looking back through my wildlife portfolio, I can honestly say this is one of my favourite images I’ve ever taken—possibly even my best.

“The Night the Moon Left Its Story Unfinished” 🌙

After a long week, I stepped outside to lock up for the night—and there it was. A perfect half moon, quiet and steady, like it had been waiting.

I’ve spent months hoping to catch this moment, watching the moon shift through its phases, never quite the same. Tonight felt like catching it mid-story—half in light, half still holding onto its secrets.

I grabbed the shot and just stood there for a moment, taking it in. Some moments are worth the wait.

“Sunrise Symphony in a Bluebell Woodland” – Devon 📸

Fresh back from the workshop and feeling inspired, I couldn’t wait to get back out with the camera and see what spring had been up to.

On Friday, I got a tip-off that a woodland I know had suddenly burst into bluebells. That was all the motivation I needed—early night Saturday, early start Sunday.

As I made my way into the woodland in the soft morning light, I found a composition I liked and waited. Then, almost on cue, the sun broke through the cloud and poured golden light across the forest floor. In that moment, everything came together.

The way the light danced across the trees, giving them that warm golden tone, while the bluebells stretched out beneath in waves of purple—it felt like the woodland had come alive just for a few fleeting minutes.

It’s actually my first time photographing bluebells like this. I usually wait until May, but everything seems to be arriving early this year. Strange—but moments like this make you glad you didn’t wait.

“Soft Sunrise Light in Woodland Along the River in Dartmoor” 🤩📸

After arriving at the car park and meeting some fellow photographers on the workshop, along with Jack Lodge and Neil Burnell I headed down to the river with the first group. We spent some time walking around, phones out, finding compositions and taking a few practice shots.

After chatting with Jack and getting some help with settings and framing, I settled into a lovely spot overlooking the river. Then, out of nowhere, the sun burst over the hill—casting this beautiful soft light through the tree line.

I’m really happy with this image. I love the lily pads in the foreground, the detail in the moss-covered rocks, and the twisting tree roots—but the highlight has to be that soft burst of sunlight in the top left.

“In the Quiet Glow of Sunrise, A Twisted Tree Stands in a Mossy Woodland of Dartmoor” 📸

So for my birthday weekend this year, I decided to book onto a workshop on Dartmoor with Jack Lodge and Neil Burnell

After a 4am start, we reached the first location and walked along the river, picking up some great tips from Jack. Not long after, it was time to head up into the woodland with Neil.

On the way up the hill, I spotted this twisted tree winding its way up another, both covered in moss. By this point, the group had moved on a bit, and I found myself alone in the woodland as the morning sun began to rise.

I wasn’t disappointed.

The light in the background, mixed with the greens of the moss and woodland coming alive, made it such a special moment. I absolutely love how this image turned out.

This experience has definitely inspired me—my goal this year is to get up earlier more often and catch these moments as they happen.

I’ve been working on a few images tonight, but I had to start with this one. And I’d highly recommend getting out early… it really does make these moments feel magical.
