Miranda Walton Photography

Miranda Walton Photography Award winning Northamptonshire photographer, specialising in baby and family portrait photography. I love my children more than anything in the world.

They are the reason behind my business, they’ve helped show me the importance of capturing every moment as they grow, allowing me to hold on to every stage of their precious lives, without stopping them or slowing them down. I’m head over heels in love with my partner too. A different kind of love, one where my heart still skips a beat when I see him. It’s a love that you’re lucky if you find firs

t time round, and one you should keep hold of and never let go. I love photographing people. I love the connections, the relationships, the things that are obvious to the outsider and the more subtle things that aren’t. The look of family. The feeling of love. I would love to capture those connections for you. To create timeless portraits you can hang on your wall, and feel the warmth and importance of that love, every single day. I’m in love with love.

You might’ve seen a little hint on my stories last weekend… but now we can officially announce we have been named as:

🏆 Portrait Photographer of the Year 2025/26 – Central England Prestige Awards

Twenty years ago I picked up a camera and hoped I could build a meaningful business. Today, we have the most amazing studio and I get to spend my days photographing growing families, tiny newborns, beloved dogs and all the moments in between.

To be recognised with this award is a huge honour, and I want to say a massive thank you not just to .prestige.awards but to every family who has stepped in front of my camera and invited me to be part of your story, we couldn’t do it without you ❤️

What if you could press pause? Not forever, just long enough to hold onto the little things that are already changing far too quickly.

One day these moments will feel like a blur, and photographs are one of the only ways to keep bringing yourself back to them.

So many parents tell me they wish they could slow time down just a little. That’s exactly why these photographs matter. They are not just for now, they are for the days when your baby suddenly doesn’t look quite so little anymore and you find yourself wondering how it all went so fast.

You do not need perfect timing or a perfectly organised life to create something meaningful. You just need to decide that these moments are worth holding onto before they disappear into memory.

Almost every mum-to-be that comes into my studio for their maternity experience says the same thing afterwards…

“That was so much fun, you made me feel so comfortable.”

So many women book with a little apprehension, feeling nervous because they think they need to know how to pose, feel confident in front of the camera, or somehow magically know what to do.

I’m here to tell you, you really don’t!

The whole experience is designed to feel relaxed and unhurried, with gentle guidance throughout and styling included, so you can simply switch off for a couple of hours and enjoy it.

Whether you come on your own for a little time to yourself before baby arrives, or bring your partner along to share the experience, the goal is always the same… to create something timeless that still feels like you.

If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in Northampton, Towcester, Milton Keynes or the surrounding areas, and want something elegant and beautifully styled, this is exactly what we create in the studio.

Maternity photography shouldn’t just look beautiful. It should feel beautiful too.

Now the warmer weather is finally here, one thing many parents start worrying about is whether their baby is too hot at night.

A good place to check is the back of their neck or chest rather than hands and feet, which are often naturally cooler.

Signs your baby may be too hot:
• Sweating or damp hair
• Flushed cheeks
• Fast breathing
• Feeling hot on their chest/back
• Restlessness or unusual lethargy

If the room feels too warm, safer ways to help cool it down can include:
• Closing curtains/blinds/windows during the day
• Opening windows earlier or later in the evening when cooler
• Using a fan to circulate air (not blowing directly onto baby)
• Dressing baby in lighter layers
• Using lower TOG sleep bags where appropriate
• Keeping the cot away from radiators and direct sunlight

Every baby is different, and this graphic is intended as a general guide only, not medical advice.

If you are worried about your baby’s temperature, breathing, feeding, or overall wellbeing, always seek advice from your midwife, health visitor, GP, or NHS 111.

I absolutely love photographing babies at this stage. Sitting confidently, not quite fully on the move yet, full of smiles, curiosity and little personality traits that are suddenly appearing every day.

Family photography matters at every age… babies change in the blink of an eye.

Most people don’t walk into their home dreaming about “digital files”.

They picture this.

The photographs that stop you every time you walk past them. The tiny details you already know are changing. The way your baby looked at you in that exact moment.

This is one of our Classic Wall Art collections. Five individual pieces, designed to work together as one story.

The best part? You don’t need to know how to design something like this yourself. We guide you through the whole process, from choosing your images to planning what will actually work in your home.

“I’m working, I promise you I’m working…” 😅

My job as a family photographer involves cuddling babies and sitting on the floor making silly noises at tiny humans and somehow calling it a career.

Watching babies grow and their little personalities come out is an absolute honour. It seems like only two minutes ago I was photographing this gorgeous girl as a newborn.

After 20 years photographing families, it still doesn’t feel like “work”. 🤍

One of the most common things I hear from new parents is, “I’m worried we’ve left it too late for newborn photos…”

I’m here to tell you, you really haven’t.

This gorgeous little boy was 10 weeks old at the time of his session, and we still captured beautiful sleepy portraits, gorgeous eye contact, little smiles, and of course those cuddly moments.

Every stage of babyhood is worth remembering. The first few weeks aren’t the only chance to capture your new baby beautifully.

If you’ve been putting it off because you think you missed the window, this is your sign that you haven’t 💛 Pop me a message and I’ll talk you through what’s possible at your baby’s age.

There’s something about this moment in life that rarely gets paused.

You’re preparing, planning, thinking about everything that’s about to change, and somewhere in the middle of it all, it’s easy to lose a little bit of yourself.

This is your chance to step away for a couple of hours and just be. You don’t need to feel photogenic or have any experience. You’re gently guided the whole way, with styling included, so you can simply relax into it and enjoy the experience.

This isn’t about performing for the camera, it’s about capturing how it feels to be right here, on the edge of everything changing.

If you’re expecting and want something timeless rather than something that dates, this is exactly what we create in the studio.

I spent some time with the fabulous aka Jessica Cunningham this week. Entrepreneur, mum of five (soon to be six) and founder of Belief Coding… and this thought she shared has stayed with me:

The subconscious won’t give you what you’re not ready to receive.

It made me think about the stories we tell ourselves that quietly become part of our identity. Things like I’m not photogenic, I’ll book photos when I feel more confident, or I’ll do it when life feels less busy.

I hear that so often with mums who would love photographs with their children, but keep putting it off until some future version of life feels more “ready”.

But childhood doesn’t wait for that.

I also loved her thought that sometimes fear shows up when we’re close to an identity shift. Maybe the discomfort isn’t a reason to hold back, maybe it’s a sign to lean in.

Being in photographs with your children isn’t about being perfect or prepared. It’s about pressing pause and being part of memories your family will treasure long after these little years have passed… and I guarantee you’ll actually enjoy the experience!

Thank you Jessica for your insight and if anyone needs a bit of extra help, check out
