Coming soon! I have been working on another new piece of world-building and portal-inspired visionary art and I am particularly over the moon with what I have created - or should I say spiritually elevated! No title yet, but that will emerge in due course. I believe I have come a long way since 2011 when I first started, and so this piece along with more recent offerings reflect my elevated style. I am working creatively behind the scenes on new artwork, new scripts, new branding - well, pretty much everything about my visionary art practice is being reimagined from the ground up!

It feels very exciting, and what I am most passionate about is the way I am starting to envision a whole new and invigorating way of elevating my art. Visionary art is an incredible genre of art to work in and the possibilities seem endless as I gradually tap into these possibilities. Keep an eye out for more as I progress! 😃

I believe this has become a visual exploration of resonance, vibration and hidden inner worlds. Discovered, perhaps even composed. A place where sound dissolves into light, geometry and energy. Less like something "painted", perhaps more like something tuned into. Here are luminous frequencies, and organic forms emerging from a meditative state of flow.

Step into the unknown.....step into love.....the magic is already there!

"The Gate Of All Tomorrows" is a digital artwork created from photographic and digital processes.


I believe it evokes feelings of love as much as it is a journey into the unknown. Tomorrow is an unknown but an enticing prospect. This is a gateway or passageway to love today, tomorrow and for everyday thereafter. It could also be a passageway to spiritual realms where love is eternal. Here, guided by two angelic presences who love no matter what. This is a journey, maybe a transition, connected by love. Energising, inspirational yet peaceful.


What was my inspiration? My work is inspired by what I can't see beyond this reality. But by what I believe I can feel. It was created intuitively from a base photograph of trees and a path - and a sense of spirituality. The nature connection. I have layered form, colour, texture and, crucially, energy until something felt right rather than making sense.


I am always more interested in what's felt than what's easily explained. Here, the "gateway to love" is my overriding feeling. But, I'd love to know what this evokes for you.....😍

There is more to our reality and existence than what we can see, feel and fully understand.

Hello, my name is Ian David Spencer and I am a visionary and contemporary artist working in the medias of photographic and digital processes, inspired by nature, cosmology and spirituality. I create art inspired by what we can't fully explain, building layered and textured immersive worlds shaped by intuition, energy and an insatiable curiosity. My work explores that space - the in between, the unseen but not fully understood and where the visible world starts to dissolve.


Each piece is crafted to draw the viewer in, to hold attention and reveal something different the longer the stay with it, experiencing something beyond the surface. It is less about answers and more about feeling. In a space these pieces become more than images - they shift the energy of a space creating moments of stillness and reflection, yet energising but also quietly expansive.

These works are for those who feel connected to something beyond the normal, beyond the surface. Those who are drawn to depth, mystery and atmosphere. People who don't want to just look at art, but who wish to fully experience it, cultivating their curiosity and spiritual connectivity. Because sometimes we're not looking for answers or truths, we're looking to feel and experience something on an emotional and awe-inspiring level.

There seems to be a powerful and dynamic recurring theme running through much of my work recently:

Portals.

I just feel very drawn to include these energetic and mystical elements in my digital paintings. I guess it must be intuition and insight at play here! Whether it's a bright white or coloured light source that serves as suggestion or, as here, an opening or vortex, they represent something quite profound I think.

I believe that they really do exist. But they can also exist within. I think if you are ready to embark on some spiritual journey or personal change, "open up" a portal and dive in. But also in a world view, new beginnings are always waiting to be discovered and experienced. And never more so than now.

What will we find on the other side? Let's be curious.

Spotlight on: Tapestry (2024). Tapestry is a digital mixed media creation. The starting point was a photo taken by myself in my local area in Cornwall. Lots of digital paintwork, special effects and mirror imaging have been used to reimagine the photo into something beyond - well, just an ordinary photo! It's not meant to represent the actual original scene, but as with all my work, the photo is a "blank canvas". I am inspired by nature as I feel that being out in nature allows my mind to wander and hones my creative intuition.

This exuberant and psychedelic yellow piece is on a similar theme of portals. Creating portals in my art has become quite a recurring theme these days. Why do I call it Tapestry? To be honest I am not entirely sure but it felt like it could have been intricately woven! And I also get a sense of movement in this too as if the "tapestry" is in motion. A strange and surreal world in motion that is in constant flux as you observe and the portal is a passage to another space or dimension.

I think it also has an angelic feel to it as well. The bright yellow central portion resembles something angelic or perhaps even a keyhole. Operate the key and open the door to another world!

The canvas shown here has been inset into a white frame. I chose white as it has the effect of finishing off the canvas very nicely without it narrowing the point of view - meaning that any other colour would have the effect of closing in around it. It therefore helps to evoke a light and spacious effect.

The digital image was printed direct to the canvas - 6400 x 4800 pixels at 300dpi resolution. The entire piece measures 48 x 63 cm including the frame. All my canvas pieces are printed for me by a trusted printer that I have used for many years, based in London. The wood used for the frames are always from renewable sources.

Price: £400 including complimentary shipping. This piece will also be bundled with a complimentary 12 x 16 mounted paper print version.

Oh the joy of starting a new piece of artwork! This work in progress has progressed beyond what I had originally started out with. This happens so often. I start with a few intuitive ideas in mind, leave it be and when I return, it suddenly morphs into an entirely different perspective. In this piece, the original concept of portal over sea has gone from something quite dark to a more colourful, lighter and energetic rendition. But I sense it isn't over yet.....😮
