Trevose Head Cornwall Cygnus Milky Way 🌌

This one has been on my radar for a long time and the weather was favourable for Astrophotography on this evening although there was lots of murk and hazy clouds I’m still happy with the result. Featuring too many Nebulas to mention in the Cygnus region and to the left the Elephant trunk and the Flying Bat nebula. So much to look at in the sky on a big screen. Can’t wait to start going deeper with more data on this part of the Milky Way, Let’s hope the weather plays ball šŸ¤žšŸ»

Durdledoor Barnards loop

My last shot from the visit to the Jurassic coast and this time featuring Barnards loop. This was actually the first shot as it was setting fairly early. Looking forward to getting back down soon as there’s so much to photograph along that coastline.

Man O War Bay Milky Way 🌌

Another shot from my recent trip to Dorset, This shot is Man O War Bay and gets its name from the rocky reef in the bay that resembles a 16th-19th century battleship. The water looks so inviting in the daytime I think next time I go I’m taking my paddle board 😁

Durdle Door the drinking dragon šŸ‰šŸŒŒ

Made a trip to the Jurassic coast last week for a well earned break and managed to get in some astrophotography. I’ve been looking forward to shooting this for some time now so it’s nice to finally get it done! Hope you like šŸ™‚

Nebulas of Orion

Test shot

I haven’t managed to get out and shoot no landscapes at the moment because of the Christmas period but I did set up in the garden and take some test shots with the camera and Astronomik 6nm Ha filter. I have to say I’m so impressed with the amount of data captured in such a short space of time, With the filter in you can really ramp up the ISO because the exposure is not so affected by light pollution.

The Nikon d850 does have its problems with clip in filters due to the latest Nikon firmware update you cannot use autofocus lenses with the filter installed. I currently use sigma art lenses and read online that you can tape the contact points as a work around but I was still getting the dreaded error message. Luckily I had some old manual lenses that I gave my wife with my old Nikon camera but still needed to tape the contact points on the lens to get it to work but it worked and that’s all that matters šŸ™‚

Godrevy Lighthouse Milky Way Cygnus

After saying I’m going to get my camera modified for about 2 years I finally sent it away for a visible Ha modification, Really pleased with the mod! Considering there was lots of hazy cloud passing through I still managed to capture some of the ha dust clouds. I still need to try a Ha filter with it yet which I already have but all in good time.
A whole new set of locations to tick off now I’m super excited to get out and about but my first stop was Godrevy lighthouse.

The Triangulum Galaxy M33

Found in the Constellation of Triangulum this spiral galaxy is a distance of 2.73 million light years from Earth. What I really like about M33 is the Ha regions in the spiral arms it’s full of those reds that really add interest to the target.

Bodes and Cigar Galaxy IFN

Captured a couple of years ago when I got my Askar scope I didn’t post due to the data being a wright off with lots of high cloud but I’ve managed to pull something out of it! It still needs some ha data but that’s something that can be added later.
I think I’ve had at least 3 tries on this target and I’ve never been overwhelmed with what I’ve produced but I’m fairly happy with this one.

Porthgwarra Milky Way

Howdy folks!

It’s been a while since I last posted and there’s a comet on the way getting brighter so I thought I’d get on the computer to see if I remembered what I was doing 😁 This was shot a while back on a starry night!

The Andromeda Galaxy

A shot I took a while back that was featured on the cover of a music album Bottiroli.
The Andromeda Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy and is our nearest neighbouring galaxy to the Milky Way
The galaxy is at a distance of 2.537 million light years away from Earth but can be seen with the naked eye at dark sky locations.
