Here's an image from last night at Blackgang Chine.

I haven't photographed the Giant Smuggler for several years and wanted to do something a little different than before. This is a 50mm shot, to allow the giant to fill more of the frame and the night sky, behind, shows only the centre of our galaxy.

Technicals:
Foreground - Single image 50mm, ISO 1000, f11, 30 seconds. The small amount of light pollution in this area lights this up.
Sky - 15 images (13 light, 2 dark) tracked on MSM Nomad, 50mm, ISO 1600, f4, 120 seconds.
Processed in Sequator, Starnet++, Lightroom and Photoshop.

Last night was beautiful at Freshwater bay; the Milky way was easily visible to the naked eye, despite it not reaching full astronomical darkness at this time of year. I arrived well before darkness and then spent a couple of hours on the clifftops, after visiting the cave, watching the night sky. Here is an image that I have wanted to capture for quite a long while, but conditions make it a technical challenge. Last night the tides, weather, sky, moon and stages of twilight/darkness worked out perfectly. The sea was slightly higher than I had anticipated, so it required a barefoot wade, with water up to my knees, to reach the cave. I had timed the tides before leaving home to ensure that I had plenty of time to get in and out safely.

Technical info:
Foreground - 3 images at 10mm, 15 seconds, ISO 2500, f7.1, noise reduced in Lightroom and stacked.
Sky - 13 images (11 light frames, 2 dark), tracked (with MSM nomad), 10mm, 120 seconds, ISO 1000, f3.5, stacked in Sequator and processed using Starnet++ and Photoshop.

The bluebells at Ventnor Downs are stunning at the moment.

Here is an image from last night's trip out, during the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower. The Lyrids are great for photography (and watching), as they are bright and slow burning, leaving persistent trails in the sky. This is one of the lesser observed meteor showers, as the peak usually only sees around 15 per hour; although I believe that it is one of the best to watch, due to the intensity and brightness of the meteors that are visible. These can be seen for the next couple of nights, but will soon be washed out by the Moon, as it becomes brighter in the night sky over the coming days.

Technical info:
Foreground - single image to reduce visible movement in the bluebells at ISO 4000, f5.6, 2.5 seconds, noise reduction in lightroom. Foreground was taken slightly before the sky images, allowing the setting Moon to light the land. Moon was off to the far right of the frame.
Sky - 10 light frames, 2 dark frames, ISO 2000, f3.5, 120 seconds, tracked using MSM nomad, stacked in Sequator, also used Starnet++ to process nebulosity separate from stars..
Meteor - single image, taken from the set of sky images, placed back in after final processing.
Blending done in Photoshop, image processed in Lightroom.
