My first wedding getting to work with one if my good industry friends Connie Connie | Wedding Celebrant | North West

While Chris and Donna sip cocktails and check out their sneaky peeks before I post them I had to put something out so I thought this little shot of Connie stepping in and being my guinea pig for a late night shot I like.

If you haven’t thought about having an indipendant celebrant maybe it is something to think about because yesterdays ceremony was so beautiful and personal and I feel like thats more what a wedding should be. Yes you need the legals but do that a few days before then get yourselves booked in with Connie!!

HOT TAKE TUESDAY!!

The best speeches aren’t the ones trying to be funny.

They’re the ones where someone just talks. No one liners lined up, no performance, just someone stood there being honest about how they feel about the two people in front of them. Voice cracking a bit. Maybe losing their place for a second because they’re too choked up to read their own handwriting.

And that’s when it happens. The room goes quiet, tissues come out, someone’s dabbing their eyes with a napkin they grabbed off the table. Then, out of nowhere, a line lands and the whole room’s laughing through the tears in the same breath.

The best ones don’t overstay their welcome either. A few honest minutes and they’re sat back down, drink in hand, before anyone’s checking their phone under the table.

I’ve watched a lot of speeches from the back of a lot of rooms now, and the pattern’s always the same. It’s never the polished ones people talk about after. It’s the wobbly, honest ones, funny and emotional in the same ten seconds and over before they drag, that everyone’s still talking about the next day.

It was August bank holiday weekend and you planned your wedding thinking summer sun and everything outdoors. Unfortunately Bank Holiday in August is notoriously unpredictable but that shouldnt stop you!!

The age old Wedding myth: you need perfect weather. 🌦️

You really don’t. Something will probably happen with the weather on your wedding day and honestly, that’s okay. This weekend has proven that over and over!

Clouds create beautiful light. Rain creates atmosphere. Wind creates movement. Sunshine’s lovely too, obviously, but it’s not the only option.

Some of my favourite wedding photos have happened in absolutely terrible weather. The laughter because of the rain and wind, the braving it to get a once in a lifetime shot at night.

The weather doesn’t make the wedding. The people do.

Save this for when you’re stressing about the forecast. 📌
