From the day my Mother gave me her old box camera when I was ten years old I have really enjoyed photography. I was always around with my old 'point and shoot' snapping away at everyone and everything, BUT it seemed to be such an expensive hobby. First the film had to be bought, more pricey if it was colour, then, depending on whether the film had 12, 24 or 36 exposures, you were very careful how
you used each shot, mindful of the fact that it could be a complete waste if you got it wrong. Then when the film was finished it was taken to the nearby chemists to be developed and printed and would be ready in about a week. In the meantime another film had to be bought and carefully loaded into the camera making sure that it was not exposed to the light. Now, with digital technology there is nothing to worry about! How on earth did we manage without the 'delete' and 'undo' button in Photoshop? As long as there are a couple of spare, charged batteries and an empty memory card tucked in the camera case it's simples! My preferred subjects are landscapes, countryside and animals. Many of my photographs have proved to be very popular and have been reproduced as calendars, key-rings, fridge magnets, coasters and table mats, notelets, jigsaws and canvasses. I try to exhibit my photographs as naturally as possible and only remove such things as telegraph wires and the odd car which seemed to appear from nowhere. This year, I entered the photography competition at our local show and I'm proud to say that I won every class except one, in which I had a second. If you would like to purchase a calendar, canvass or any print from the gallery then please feel free to email me on: [email protected]
I do hope you enjoy the photos I have presented here. If you don't, please blame my friends who have been nagging me to do this for years. Perhaps they were joking!
