Went to Hendon this morning to buy some wood for a garden light box I have been making so decided to go to Seaham for some lunch. Whilst there we were looking at the Tommy memorial and once again amazed at the detail and work that has been put into this, which is my favourite statue, so I have photographed the various parts.

This is week 19 of my Monday morning trips to capture the demolition of the Gateshead Flyover. Big changes now, both roundabouts open, On ramps at the end of Durham Road now almost flattened and just a small section of the flyover left to demolish. Noticed that they have started the demolition of the Davey Roll factory at the end of the bypass.

18th Monday morning visit today to see how the demolition of the Gateshead Flyover is getting on. Off ramps at Park Lane are now removed and the Durham Road off ramps are just a pile of rubble. Only a small section left to demolish but I suspect it is the area above the Metro line so they will have to be cautious.

What started out as a simple painting job turned into a mammoth task of replacing the old decking and replacing half the fencing. Took me a long time, over 6 weeks but managed to get it all done today thanks to all the good weather we have had and the best apprentice ever (Susan Sheridan). Here are the images of the ongoing work.

This is my 17th Monday morning recording the demolition of the Gateshead Flyover. A big difference from last week with the off ramps removed and the entire flyover on the Park Lane roundabout removed. They are also clearing the ground where the rest of the flyover was.
