Just along from Webbers Post near Horner Wood are some impressive ant nests. The southern wood ants (Formica rufa) scour the nearby woodland collecting insects to feed up the next generation of the ever growing colonies. When I was watching the amazing chains of ants carrying insects back to the nest last year this beetle needed a group of ants working together to carry it back over the leaf litter
