And honestly, that tells you quite a lot about Catherine & Billy! ❤️

Fast forward to their incredible Hinwick House wedding, filled with multicoloured wildflowers 🌸, family, personality and one seriously good party. 🥂

They chose Hinwick House because they could turn their wedding into a huge house party for a few days, with their favourite people staying and celebrating together. What a way to get married! 🙌

💍 HE PLANNED TO PROPOSE IN A PARIS GARDEN… ABBA, a huge plate of meat and several drinks later, things went VERY differently. 😂🇫🇷

And somehow, that feels like the perfect introduction to Catherine & Billy. ❤️

These two met in London during lockdown in 2020, when simply seeing each other involved rather more effort than usual. Living miles apart and navigating restrictions meant that if they wanted their relationship to work, they really had to make it happen.

And they did.

They quickly discovered just how much they had in common, and their relationship went from strength to strength.

Fast forward to Paris and Billy had a plan. A romantic proposal in the Luxembourg Gardens.

That plan didn't quite survive contact with reality. 😂

Instead, there was a night out, a ridiculously large platter of meat, a club on the banks of the Seine playing ABBA, plenty to drink and, finally, a proposal during an early-hours walk beside the river.

Chaotic. Random. Completely unplanned.

And absolutely perfect. ❤️

Which brings us to their incredible wedding at Hinwick House.

Catherine & Billy wanted colour, personality and FUN. 🌸🌼🌷 Their day was filled with pastel colours, multicoloured wildflowers and the atmosphere of one enormous family party.

And Hinwick House was the perfect setting.

This spectacular Grade I listed Queen Anne country house dates back to the early 1700s and was built for Richard and Diana Orlebar. The house sits within acres of beautiful Bedfordshire parkland and even has connections in its design to the original Buckingham Palace. citeturn0search0turn0search1

But what really made it perfect for Catherine & Billy was the opportunity to turn their wedding into something much bigger than a single day.

Their idea was essentially to have one enormous house party for a few days, with as many of their favourite people staying with them as possible. 🥂

THAT is how you do a wedding.

From the colourful wildflowers to the party atmosphere and all those brilliant candid moments happening in between, this was exactly the sort of wedding I love photographing.

Catherine & Billy chose me because they wanted those genuine, unscripted moments captured. Not a wedding day spent constantly posing for the camera, but photographs that bring back the people, personalities, atmosphere and little moments they might otherwise have missed.

And there were plenty of those! 📸😂

Even their first dance choice, Billy Joel's Just the Way You Are, had a personal story behind it, after seeing Billy Joel together a few years earlier. ❤️

Winter weddings have a magic all of their own ❄️

Soft light, cosy venues, candlelit tables and the perfect excuse to wrap up close together. There is something wonderfully intimate about celebrating with your favourite people while it’s cold outside.

And if the weather turns wild, embrace it. Those are often the moments that make the best photographs.
