Did something a bit different at the weekend, well I say different, this is what I photographed before weddings!
The WitchWood Run was happening right on the hills around my door step so I offered my time to the organisers to photograph the event. I started around 9am Saturday morning till 3pm with the actual run starting at 10am then I did another stint 8pm - midnight then back to catch the end of a 24 hours the following morning, yeah 24 hours!
I've covered many adventure races in my time but never a 24hr run. Standing in a forrest just before midnight waiting for runners to come by in the pitch black it was a bit surreal. Apart from the on off rain it was a lovely night actually. The clag descended and made it quite atmospheric with runners coming out of the mist. I def got my steps tally in for the weekend.
It was an amazing event , especially for a 1st time event. The organisers and the helpers and Marshalls all put in a hell of a stint. The atmosphere and the uplifting faces of the runners, yes even after 23 hrs was inspiring. 1st place male - Colin Herd did 147.5 km and 1st place female - Danielle Callaghan did 129.8 km, incredible.
I've put together a small FB album with some of my favs not in any particular order.
May have to look for more , thoroughly enjoyed it 😉
