Are you finding it hard as a business to know what to post these days?

I am.

And I’m honest about that.

Because being a photographer used to mean your work was your content ~ but that’s not really the case anymore.

However, I think there is still a demand to engage with photography. And I think that authenticity will win through, as algorithms constantly change and platforms compete with each other therefore shifting the goal posts for their users.

But I can’t be who I’m not, as a business or as a person.

I’m quieter, more considered in my approach, I tend not to be a slave to social media trends. And I tend not to shout loudly either personally or professionally.

But I know I have to be here and be seen ~ and whether Instagram will like it or not, I’m going to stay true to my brand values and my personal values and bring you my work as a photographer in the best way I can, authentically and with heart and soul.

My blog will soon become more active and a place for businesses to find inspiration and a place to sit with a coffee for a quiet read, to perhaps simply pause for a moment and enjoy the medium of photography and the stillness it brings.

Thank you for reading this far and I hope you’ll stay with me …. Kathryn x

P.S Reels do weird things with colours 🤷🏼‍♀️ so these images don’t look quite as they should! Another Instagram oddity 🙃

Two words….

Meaningful, poignant.

Not only was it an honour to be asked to capture this lovely Yorkshire wedding day but it was the last wedding to take place at this church ~ sadly due to closure. And what a meaningful and special wedding service it was.

This church was also the place I attended as a child ~ I went to Sunday School there and I have many memories of sitting in the choir stalls and I still knew members of the choir who sang at the wedding even after all these years! I felt about 8 years old again when I walked in ~ just so familiar and welcoming as always. You could say it was rather poignant that I was the photographer to capture the last wedding at this village chapel ~ a little bit of a home coming perhaps.

With an intimate reception at the couple’s home, this was a really special May wedding and a pleasure to play a small part in it.

Huge congrats to H&S 🫶🏻

It’s just a calm, family photo shoot in the Yorkshire Dales….or is it?!

Sometimes it’s not about the perfect portrait, sometimes it’s just life ~ and dogs being dogs in this case 💛

And I’ll always want to capture the real stuff! 😁

In a bluebell woodland, special moments are made.

You’ll generally find my dog photography over at but I know I have dog loving followers on this account and it’s also family photography so it sits nicely here too 🙂

I’ve been seeing posts about iPhone shots vs pro camera shots with hefty opinions from influential accounts about not needing fancy kit.

Hmmm. It’s not really about fancy kit it’s about what you do with it. It’s not the fancy kit that has the eye, the empathy with people or the ability to create relationships quickly when photographing people (and dogs). Whilst the fancy kit can help you in low light or tricky light conditions, it’s the user of the kit that needs to know what they’re doing, both technically and artistically.

And then there’s AI.

Human connection and authenticity will become even more valuable as AI becomes more sophisticated.

Not everything can be “generated” ~ emotions and moments certainly can’t. Real experiences that matter in our lives with the members of family ~ human or otherwise ~ who mean the most to us will become ever more precious.

I could go on!

My point is really, the moments that matter to us most deserve to be captured, because they’re real and we need to hang on to the real stuff.

Enjoy your weekend, take some moments, breathe a little.

My business is evolving so I thought I’d re-introduce myself!

I’m a lifestyle and portrait photographer based in North Yorkshire and my main areas of work are family photography and brand photography (dogs are included in both)!

If you’re a business looking to refresh your brand imagery, to build your presence online, to show up to your clients authentically, I’m here to support and guide you through.

You might be a new business, an established brand, a creative who is spinning many plates and navigating your way through the economic uncertainties and the AI concerns is tricky and you might be feeling overwhelmed.

I see you!

And I know it’s hard to show up, but now is your time to craft your message and bring your business in front of the right eyes because it’s getting harder and harder as a small business. Authenticity is where it’s at!

So the strength in your visual identity, in your photography, in your brand style is more vital than ever before.

Here is my background summarised in an Instagram post and it might bring you some confidence in what I can bring to your brand communications.

It’s photography and a fair bit more! 🙂
