SPINE RACE | Support the new photo book!

We have teamed up with award-winning photographer David Miller and Vertebrate Publishing to bring you a large-format, premium hardback photography book documenting the Montane Winter Spine Race like never before.

Introducing…

Spine - The story of the Montane Winter Spine Race.

Through the lens of David Miller, SPINE tells the story of the race in its rawest form: the cold, the darkness, the isolation - and the extraordinary people who take it on.

We need your help to make it happen.

The project is now live on Kickstarter where you can pledge to receive a number of rewards, including limited edition hardback books, signed editions with a slipcase, limited edition prints and the inclusion of your name in the backers list in the book.

SPINE FUNDED.

In just five days, SPINE has reached its funding target 🎯

If I’m honest, part of me wondered whether DO NOT BLOCK GATE succeeded because of one photograph rather than the work as a whole. The response to SPINE has given me confidence that people connect with the stories, the photographs and the way I see these events.

For that reason, reaching this target feels incredibly personal!

Thank you to everyone who has pledged, shared and supported the project. What started as a week documenting runners, volunteers and life around Britain’s most brutal race will now become a book!

There are still 22 days to go, but today feels like a milestone worth celebrating 🥳

SPINE

One of the themes running through the book is Sycamore Gap. Not just the place, but what it came to represent.

The second photo was taken at sunrise one morning during the Winter Spine. I was driving between locations when my headlights lit up this tree. Something about it immediately reminded me of Sycamore Gap.

The idea of something standing through storms, weather and time. Even after loss, the roots remain.

That reminded me of the runners I met on the Pennine Way. Knocked down, exhausted, broken at times - But still moving forward.

That spirit runs right through SPINE.

SPINE.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has already backed the project. We’ve reached 50% of the Kickstarter target in the first 24 hours, which is absolutely incredible.

We’re halfway there!

If this book is going to become a reality, we need to keep pushing. Projects like this only happen when people get behind them. If you’d like to see SPINE out in the world, please consider backing the Kickstarter or sharing it with others.

Every pledge. Every share. Every bit of support helps.

Thank you.

SPINE IS NOW LIVE ON KICKSTARTER.

After months of work behind the scenes, countless hours editing photographs, designing pages and refining every detail, I’m incredibly proud to finally share this project with the world.

SPINE is a photographic journey through the 2026 Montane Winter Spine Race. A week spent documenting the cold, isolation, exhaustion, resilience and humanity found along the Pennine Way in winter.

This isn’t a race guide or a history book.

It’s a photography book.

A collection of moments, landscapes, people and stories from one unforgettable week that I had the privilege of witnessing through my camera.

If you enjoyed DO NOT BLOCK GATE, I truly believe this is its natural successor.

The Kickstarter is now live and every pledge helps bring this book into existence.

If you’d like to support the project but can’t pledge right now, a share means the world. Projects like this only succeed when people see them. Independent photography books live or die on reach, and every repost, share and mention helps put SPINE in front of someone who might connect with it.

As photographers, these are the projects that define us. The personal ones. The ones we pour ourselves into.

Thank you to everyone who has followed the journey so far and helped get it to this point.

SPINE COVER REVEAL

This is the cover for SPINE.

A project born from one unforgettable week documenting the 2026 Montane Winter Spine Race. Following runners across the Pennine Way through snow, darkness and winter weather, trying to capture not just the race… but what it feels like to be there.

I didn’t want this to look like a normal running book. I wanted it to feel like a worthy follow-up to DO NOT BLOCK GATE.

I wanted the cover to feel like a whiteout. Quiet. Empty. Minimal.

Silence. Space. Cold. Isolation.

And this is the cover.

What you’re seeing here is the dust jacket. Beneath it sits the actual book itself — a minimalist white cover featuring only the word SPINE. The book will then be housed inside a black slipcase featuring the line of the Pennine Way.

I had the time of my life making this project. Meeting inspiring runners, volunteers and people along the way during one incredible week in winter. This book is the result of that experience.

Details will emerge over the coming days and weeks. You can register now using the link below to be first to know when the Kickstarter launches!

Thank you for all the support so far. If you’d like to help, a share would mean a lot and genuinely helps projects like this reach more people. 🙏🏼

I’ve been a bit quiet recently on the print side while I’ve been deep in preparations for SPINE and working away behind the scenes.

Because of that, my website and print store will be closing for a while very soon for a major overhaul to coincide with the SPINE launch later this year.

Before it closes, I’m doing a final push on prints for the next week only. Everything on the store is discounted and I’ll be in the office printing and packing orders all week. Shipping is available worldwide.

I’m now offering selected images as:
• A4 matte or glossy
• A3 matte or glossy

There’s also just ONE square limited Jasmin Paris framed print left. Once that’s gone, it’s gone.

If you’ve ever wanted a piece of my work on your wall, now’s probably the time. I genuinely believe photographs are better living in people’s homes than sat hidden away on hard drives.

PM me for custom prints and framing options if required?
