Please share this far and wide

This is where I work. I’ve been trading in Alnwick Market Square since 2010, and it’s a place I genuinely love — not just for the business, but for the people. Many of the traders here are good friends, and the market is a big part of what draws visitors into the town.

With fewer markets around these days and high street shops closing, spaces like this feel more important than ever.

However, Alnwick Market and the surrounding businesses are facing a potential challenge. Bailiffgate Museum is planning a move into Northumberland Hall, and this will involve significant renovation work over the coming year.

This is expected to cause disruption in the Market Place. Plans indicate that a large fenced-off compound — possibly taking up 50% of the market square — will be in place during the works.

Many traders and local businesses are concerned about what this could mean for footfall and trade during that time.

I’m sharing this because it doesn’t feel widely known, and it’s important that people have the chance to understand what’s happening and share their views.

Please consider coming to the meeting, share your views and concerns, and help support Alnwick Market and the businesses around it.

Trying my hand at Street Photography. Completely out of my comfort zone, snapping images of random strangers and hoping not to have any confrontations. These were taken in Newcastle city centre on a Sony ZVE10 and a Tamron 17 - 50 f4. Not a combination I would try again, I'm not a fan of the auto focus on the Sony and the lens just turned out to be not quite fast enough for some of the low light situations (TBF the camera is designed primarily for video).

I’ve gone analogue for a little while. Trying to slow the photographic process down and get some vintage feels to my images. Trying this lovely camera out, the Yashica A TLR from 1959 with the crossbody 125mm Cornish strap from RBK Leather Crafts. Should be fun.

Latest blog about who is the Greatest Landscape Photographer of all Time? Click the link to read. Also leave a comment let me know who you think the greatest is. IMO its the bloke in the photo Ansel Easton Adams.

Ask ten photographers who the greatest landscape photographer of all time is, and you’ll likely get ten different answers. Landscape photography is deeply personal — shaped by emotion, environment, and the way we connect with the natural world. But despite changing styles, technology, and trends...

Latest blog has gone up about how the price of vintage camera lenses have been influenced by well influencers and social media. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to leave a comment.

As you will have read in a recent blog, I have been dabbling with vintage glass, old camera lenses which have a very distinctive look and on a recent trip to Norfolk I took a bunch with me to try out. It got me thinking, as recently as 2020 vintage lenses like the Soviet made Helios M44 - 2 were ch

Latest vlog post is live all about using vintage lenses on a modern mirrorless camera body. The results really surprised me and spoilers, not in a bad way.

Happy new year to everyone of you lovely people. The first of what I hope to be many photographs of 2026, and I think its a belter. Taken in some bitter conditions (ice and snow all over the place) the first full moon of 2026, the Wolf Moon, so named because of the hungry howling of the wolves. This name is thought to have a Celtic and Old English origin, and that European settlers brought it to North America.

Other Celtic names include Stay Home Moon and Quiet Moon. Moon After Yule is an Anglo-Saxon version, referring to the pre-Christian Yule (or Juul) celebrations around the winter solstice. Native American names are Severe Moon and Centre Moon.

Its been a while since I did any lunar photography so I had to have a quick recap as to how to process the images, you can check out the video I put together at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzn8ww0StVM

Here are the finished images from my very very cold trip to Hadrian's Wall on Tuesday night. It is now a given that I need to get a little heater warp thingy for my lenses which will keep the condensation off the front element and stop them from fogging up (and a little power bank also). The images I got before the lens fogged up I am really happy with. Wall Town Crags is a location which has masses of potential and I will be revisiting in the near future.

As always hope you like the images.
