Three of our common seal patients have now moved to our big pool, where they can work on building their strength, fitness and diving skills ready for the next stage of their rehabilitation- release 🩷
Rosa Parks, Alan Turing and Ed Roberts are all doing brilliantly and progressing every day, and Ed (pictured), appears to be channelling a little bit of Nirvana
While these three are enjoying their new surroundings, we still have common seal patients requiring intensive care from our specialist team.
As we continue through the tail end of our busy summer period and now common seal season, we're starting to run low on some of the supplies that are incredibly important for their comfort and recovery, particularly food grade salt and small raised dog beds.
🧂Salt is used for therapeutic salt baths to help support the healing of wounds. Each healing seal can require around 20kg of salt per day, so our stocks disappear surprisingly quickly!
🛏️ Raised dog beds are also incredibly useful for our patients. They allow seals to rest comfortably off the floor while they recover, helping with pressure relief and allowing them to better regulate their body temperature.
