Over the last 4 months, I’ve been photographing social-housing Tower Blocks across the South of England, in areas such as London, Southampton, Portsmouth and Reading.
Alongside my imagery, I’ve been researching the stigma in which people living in social/council housing may experience and the roots of this stigma, involving influences from politics, tv, films and the general news. I felt that people are often judged on where they live, and that there’s a social divide within society because of this. This is something in which I hope will one day change.
Below are some examples of the tower blocks in which I have visited, all which vary in architectural style. I’ve been drawn to certain aspects of each one, especially through decorations on balconies, stickers/flags in windows etc.
