For a long while I've had a fascination with the Slate landscapes of North Wales, dating right back to a hiking trip at the age of 12 which first introduced me to the unique atmosphere of these places. This image was taken at one of my favourite locations, for its remote and wild beauty that is only enhanced by the slate wastes that have transformed the landscape. On this occasion I was blessed with incredible light and clear views right across to Yr Wyddfa - a lesser know view of the famous mountain.

Best viewed Full Screen with Sound ON!

A short montage of footage taken from my last trip to the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, UK. This was shot back in early November just before the second lockdown, and I was lucky enough to get 3 or 4 days of fantastic light as you can see from the video.
This is a wonderful stretch of coast with a bounty of opportunities and compositions to explore for any landscape photographer.

Firey Dawn - This image was taken in the Surrey Hills one morning, while I was out scouting for woodland images. I noticed the sky starting to illuminate, and decided to head up the hill. However, no matter where I looked I could not find a clear composition for the trees in blocking any kind of clear view.

Luckily I had my Mavic with me so up it went! The compositional freedom a drone gives you is the reason I have one in my bag. After scouting around a little, I noticed the line of trees crossing the field creating a lead in line. The light was still quite low, and while the camera on the Mavic 2 is good by drone standards, it still struggles with any kind of ISO increase and extreme dynamic range. Still, if it wasnt for the drone I would not have captured an image at all that morning!

I actually hesitated to post this image as the colour in the sky is almost unbelievable. The truth is, it really was unbelievable and one of the few times Ive witnessed such a display. The colour was so bright I actually had to drop the saturation a touch in post processing!

I came across this footage from last summer shooting Little Owls at Knepp in West Sussex. This little guy sat on the post in front of me for about 30mins dozing in the early morning sun.

I have finally got around to adding a Wildlife page to my website.

You can see shots from this morning, along with a few others - I'll be adding more as I go through them in the next few weeks!

Back in November I spent a wonderful, misty morning photographing the sunrise at Corfe Caste. Heres a short video from the morning. Watch with Sound on, in full screen!

Sunset at St Martha's - A local image this week, taken a few weeks ago at St Marthas church in the Surrey Hills. This is a wonderful location I have visited many times but have been keen to get a new perspective. My original intention was just to take the Mavic there and get an idea of potential compositions with a view to going back at sunrise where the light comes round in a more pleasing direction through the winter months.
However, the golden light that even proved to be excellent and as a result I think this image came out much better than I expected and certainly captures the evening mood!

A Heavenly Morning - One of the images taken on my recent trip to Dorset. I was lucky enough to have some amazing conditions - especially some wonderful lingering mist on my last morning there.

I happened to look around and notice the waves of mist unfolding across Corfe Village. The tower of St Edwards Church was rising just above and casting lovely shadows through the mist, accompanied by whisps of smoke from a few chimneys as the village started to wake.

Its quite a gentle image - which I like, and the more you look at it, the more you see through the mist and notice all the details of the village!

The Quiraing at Sunrise - The Quiraing is one of those locations I have been wanting to photography for many years. A popular hotspot for Landscapers, there are no shortage of images from this place but never-the-less the unique character of the location has meant its been near the top of my "must photograph" locations for a while.

This summer I finally got the opportunity to visit Skye. Unfortunately, most of the week was grey & drizzly and while I managed some great moody shots I was longing all week for just a bit of magic light.

As is typical, the morning we were leaving showed a more promising weather forecast. Undeterred I set my alarm for a 3.30am wake-up call and headed out.

I wasn't disappointed. Picking a location framed by the early signs of flowering heather, the sun emerged above the horizon casting wonderful golden light across the ridge!

This is an image I took all the way back in October. This was quite a spectacular evening on the cost of Anglesea. The weather had been horrific the few days I was in North Wales, so I ventured to the Anglesea cost in the hope of better light. On the second day I got lucky. The clouds broke an hour before sunset and the sky was really quite dramatic. This image is of St Cwyfan's Church in Llangwyfan. Its a wonderful location, but busy foregrounds meant finding a composition I was happy with presented a challenge. After a fair amount of time scouting around, I settled on this, set up the camera and sat back and watched the light unfold... Magic!

Like all Landscape & Nature photographers I have a love and passion for exploring and experiencing the outdoors. So when contacted me and asked if I would be part of campaign I couldnt say no! The campaign is a series of videos following those people who enjoy and experience the Surrey Hills in various different ways - including myself as a Landscspe photographer. The aim of this is to encourage more of us to fet outside and experience the magic of the outdoor world, amd inparticular encourage people out into the surrey hills!
