☀️ SUMMER PRINTS ☀️

I’m selling a selection of signed pictures printed on a beautiful baryta paper at a special price.

These photos are dear to my heart as they have been spontaneously taken during my walks and my travels, from Paris to the Aegean Sea, Brisbane to New York, and of course within the UK with its beautiful golden light. I photograph landscapes, flowers, cats and cars almost every day.

I like to document the beauty around me without having the pressure of working on any particular series. But this is also a way for me to look for calm and hope during difficult times. My personal artwork often takes me to intense places, as does my recent support of activists who stand up for justice.

I’m hoping that these pictures can bring a sense of peace and possibility to those who look at them, as these were the feelings that inspired me to take them. Like necessary moments of oblivion that give us the strength to then go back to real life and zoom out a little.

I selected photos that I thought would look nice in a living room or an office. They could also be a gift to a special person. I also thought that if I was a therapist (and I should be yours) I would want to display similar images in the room for the patient to look at and drift, and reminisce, and imagine again.

“There are some mornings when the sky looks like a road”, wrote Joanna Newsom in a song.

The pictures are printed on my new favourite Canson paper. They measure 12”x14.5” (30 x 37,5 cm) with a thin white border, which will make them easy to frame. They are all limited to 10 prints per image and signed by me.

This sale will be on until mid-July, and I’ll start sending the prints from the end of June. Secure payment through my website.

Spent a lovely day with Choose Love on Saturday during the biggest anti-racist march in Britain’s History! HALF A MILLION PEOPLE showed up to say no to division and fear. What is happening in France is happening in the UK and in more and more countries: the far-right pretends to be the voice of the lower class but systematically protects the rich.

The event was organised with Together Alliance with a beautiful rave party in Trafalgar Square with Katy B, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, Zack Polanski, Jessie Ware and many more 🌟

Thanks and congrats for your fantastic work CHOOSE LOVE ✨

Artist Aya Haidar, actor Khalid Abdalla, Dr Ghassan Abu Sittah, filmmaker Mark Rylance and the many other participants photographed at the “Seeds of Solidarity” fundraiser night on February 1st organised by the fantastic Amira Nimerawi and Dr Omar Abdel-Mannan of Health Workers 4 Palestine.

HW4P has raised more than £300 000 in one night and is hoping to reach their goal of £400 000 in order to buy medical devices and send doctors to save people’s lives and create a brighter future.

It was a strange experience to be in a room filled with so many extraordinary people: doctors, activists, journalists, musicians… many of whom have become the moral compasses of our times, often putting their and careers behind or in danger in order to speak the truth.

I was very impressed and shy to meet them and I sometimes had to insist on photographing them - they’re very humble people who do not usually want to be put in the light that way.

It was also one of the very rare occasions recently that felt truly joyful and hopeful, despite the ongoing situation. We allowed ourselves to have fun. The fantastic London Arab Orchestra played and we danced.

Self-portrait with plasters (2026).

I’ve wanted to photograph myself with plasters on my face after having spent two months with scars and rashes on my nose, due to a biopsy.

I had the impression that with plasters of all sizes covering my features, the picture might have an interesting painterly effect, in the vein of some Francis Bacon or Lucian Freud works.

Every-time I wore a plaster on my nose, I wondered if it was to protect my skin or rather to protect others from seeing something gruesome.

I also thought that an absurd profusion of plasters would evoke the many mental bruises that can come with the recent daily avalanche of terrible news. It generates so much pain that, sometimes, one can hardly see anything.

This photograph reminds me of a self-portrait I took back in 2021 when I had just begun working on my “Hollywood Nightmares” series. Am I constantly repeating myself? I never want to rehash a “successful” recipe, yet I often come back to similar forms, even when I think I am inventing something new!

I had promised myself not to produce any new photo series before I direct a new film. But the nightmares aren’t over yet.

Very moved to have my portrait of Dr Mo included in the Royal Overseas League exhibition in London, on until February 2026.

I first saw Dr Mohammed Mustafa at a London demo back in June. I spotted him from afar (picture 5) and knew straight away that I wanted to photograph him. I ended up marching behind him, amongst the health workers (which I have done eversince), strangely drawn to his blue scrubs (picture 6).

I learned later that these scrubs were the very ones he wore in Gaza earlier in the year, as he witnessed unimaginable suffering and violence while working at al-Ahli Arab hospital as an emergency doctor.

We then crossed paths several times again and I finally plucked up the courage to ask if he would agree to sit for a proper portrait. The wonderful people at Palestine House let me use one of their rooms. Dr Mo, though busy traveling around the world to speak about Palestine with the hope of building a children’s hospital in Gaza, managed to find some time for this. In a similar setup to my portrait of Dr Rosie, I wanted to have a red light pointing towards the heart. The heart of a doctor. Though I understand now that these past months have also been about listening to my own heart. About following a deep intuition. In French, the word ‘courage’ derives from the word ‘cœur’ (‘heart’). Being brave means having a heart.

Dr Mo seemed grateful and said that portraits like these could help humanise Palestinians.

I didn’t fully understand this until much later. For it was only the beginning of my realisation that Palestinian people were not seen as equal to others by everyone. This normalized indecency has fueled my work ever since.

I am in awe of Dr Mo’s work and courage. He carries on despite continuous loss, grief and injustice.

Thank you for your otherworldly work and wisdom, Dr Mo.

Thanks Palestine House once again.

Thanks Louis Chapple for including the picture in this beautiful exhibition.

Congrats to Sean Cham who has won the ROSL Photography Award for his fascinating series, and to Shizza Majeed for her portraits of her grandfather - totally mesmerizing too.

I sometimes feel hope.

Thank you Oli ️
