It was good to have take an interest in the plight of the Gaywood River on Monday but three minutes shared with Feargal Sharkey can’t really do the situation justice. The bigger picture takes about 15 minutes and it’s here in the most recent Outhouse production.

A film for the people of King's Lynn and West Norfolk who deserve better of the "other" river that runs right through their town.

Our dear friends Lida and Els whose remarkable story is told in the Outhouse documentary C shells were featured on the BBC One programme The One Show this evening.

The segment coincides with the publication of Lida and Els' new book about their shell line on the Suffolk coast at Shingle Street, the setting for their determined and creative recovery from cancer treatment.

It seems that their story of friendship, creativity and cancer recovery is striking chords with a lot of people. Their positivity, creativity and humour is a brilliant example for us all, whether our lives have been touched by cancer or not.

A few of our shots were included in the One Show package. In the UK, you can view the segment for the next month on the BBC iPlayer.

The whole film is available for viewing now on the "C shells" page on the Outhouse site. outhousefilmworks.uk/c-shells

We're delighted about the coverage of the Shingle Street shell line on today.
We were so privileged to be trusted to help Lida and Els tell their remarkable, personal and inspiring story in our short film "C shells".
We'll be screening the film in April (details to follow) In the meantime, the BBC story has a link (short film) so you can watch it now.

Lida Kindersley and Els Bottema created the line of sea shells to mark their "healing place".

It’s almost time to screen the films we’ve been working on for the winners of our Pitch Us competition.

It’s been a total delight working with each of them. They are, to man and woman, totally dedicated to perfecting their products and to making them available to all.

The filming as been varied with Hedgerow Cordials pop-up cocktail bar on a day filled with thunder, early morning shoots on the marshes for The Wild Meat Company, an exhaustive tasting session at DJ Wines and flying our aerial camera system around Snape Maltings at dawn.

In fact, we're so excited that we've made another very short film in anticipation of the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival next weekend when we'll be showing the films for the first time. Here's a little extra film we made to promote the screenings. You'll be very welcome at our little pop-up cinema at The Dovecote, Snape Maltings on 24 and 25 Sept. Do call by and say hello.

Huh? Can you see what it is yet? (If we're still allowed to say that.)
A clue is that Spain can be quite hot at this time of year.
Answer later ... meanwhile suggestions in the comments if you'd like to have a go. "Roll up, roll up!"

What a great response to the Pitch Us competition! We've had some really interesting pitches from quite a few food producers, mostly across Norfolk and Suffolk.
It was quite a challenge and very painful to whittle it down to just three winners; we really could have accepted at least six but resources are finite.
I'll not reveal the winners just yet, they may be keen to make their own announcements.
We're keen to get the projects moving and have already had a really enjoyable meeting with one of the winners, another is scheduled for Friday and the final one on Monday.
It'll be great to get the projects underway and, hopefully have them all completed at about the same time.
To those that didn't win this time, we'd just like to say thanks for making such excellent "pitches". We'd love to have made films for everyone but that was never going to be viable.
The work our local producers, big and small, do is amazing and they richly deserve our support by buying and enjoying their products.

We had to leave it a few days after April 1 before announcing "Pitch Us" – our offer to local "real food" producers here in East Anglia. Here's why ...
In a moment of pure madness we decided that we wanted to help those hard-working folks who grow, catch, prepare or cook much the fabulous food and drink that is being produced in East Anglia. Produce from the region is getting quite a reputation but it's still difficult for small-scale producers to get the word out about what they're up to.
After a good half hour of deliberation we decided that we'd offer a few producers the opportunity to have a short, cinematic film made ... FREE. You can see what it might be considered a jolly April Fool jape!
The idea is to help them directly communicate the provenance, enthusiasm and sheer hard work behind their products, direct to potential customers.
So, we're asking producers to "pitch us" with the reasons why they deserve a full, professional Outhouse film production so that our judges can select three very fortunate winners at the end of April.
We wish we could offer free productions to all our lovely producers but we figured that three is, well, three more than none at all.
If you are, or know, a food or drink producer in East Anglia who might be interested, check out the Pitch Us pages at outhousefilmworks.uk/pitchus
