We're bringing back one of our favourite series, celebrating some of the world's most iconic photographs and the photographers behind them. From legendary pioneers to modern masters, there's plenty to discover.
Kicking us off... Dorothea Lange
Dorothea Lange was born in 1895, and after contracting polio as a child, developed a deep empathy for those facing hardship. She began her career as a portrait photographer in San Francisco before the Great Depression inspired her to document the lives of struggling Americans instead.
Travelling through migrant camps and Dust Bowl communities, Lange captured powerful images of poverty, resilience, and hope. Her most famous photograph, Migrant Mother, became an enduring symbol of the Great Depression and helped raise awareness of the hardships faced by countless families.
Today, Lange is remembered as one of history's most influential documentary photographers, whose work continues to highlight the power of photography to inspire empathy and social change.
