Dogs are the best people. 🥹

Whenever a couple asks if they can bring their dog along, I’m trying very hard to act professional… but on the inside I’m already planning all the fuss they’re about to get.

You’ll always get the same answer from me…

Abso-f**king-lutely.

Who wouldn’t want to spend their working day giving out ear scratches, sneaking in cuddles and getting a healthy dose of serotonin between taking photos?

And it doesn’t stop at dogs either.

If your engagement shoot or wedding includes horses, cats, birds, reptiles, alpacas, goats or any other beloved member of the family, I’m here for it. They’re not “just pets”. They’re family, and if they’re an important part of your life, they deserve a place in your photos too.

Whether they’re joining us for an engagement session, walking down the aisle, or simply making a guest appearance for a few portraits, I promise they’ll be just as welcome as everyone else… And yes, they’ll probably leave with a few extra cuddles from me.

July - some availability, a few spaces left

October - no availability, fully booked sorry :(
November - some availability, a few spaces left
December - I have a few bookings but still plenty of spaces left

When I first got into wedding photography, people told me I was “too niche”. That I would struggle. That there simply wasn’t enough demand for dark, alternative wedding photography.

For a while, I believed them.

I questioned whether I’d made the biggest mistake of my life. I’d spent seven years building my previous career, and I was walking away from everything I’d worked so hard for to pursue something that felt much more uncertain.

There were moments I wondered if everyone else was right.

But here’s what I realised…

If I’d listened to everyone else’s idea of what success should look like, I would have ended up building a business that wasn’t me.

Instead, I kept creating the work I loved. The dark imagery. The moody edits. The unconventional weddings. The couples who never quite saw themselves in “traditional” wedding photography.

Slowly, those couples found me.

Today, I get to photograph weddings that genuinely excite me. I work with incredible people who trust me because they want exactly what I create, not despite it.

Were there people who didn’t like my work? Absolutely.

There still are.

But that’s the thing.

People will judge you anyway.

They’ll tell you you’re too much. Too different. Too weird. Too niche. And if you change to please them, someone else will tell you you’ve lost what made you special.

So create the work that makes your heart race.

Build the business that feels like yours.

Wear what you want. Love what you love. Be unapologetically yourself.

Because in the end, they’ll judge you anyway… so you might as well make sure you’re happy.

Hey I’m Laura

An alternative wedding photographer based in the West Midlands, photographing weddings across the UK and occasionally further afield for destination celebrations. With over 14 years of experience both in front of and behind the camera, I bring a unique perspective to the way I work with my couples. My background in editorial photography influences my approach to weddings, combining authentic moments with creative, intentional imagery that feels natural, relaxed and true to who you are.

I’m also one of the co-founder’s of the Dark Wedding Collective, a community led alternative wedding platform connecting couples with inclusive, creative and unapologetically alternative wedding suppliers. Through wedding fairs, online directories and community initiatives, we’re creating a space where couples can find suppliers who genuinely understand their vision.

My ethos is simple: your wedding should feel like yours. I believe there is no single right way to get married, which is why I create a relaxed, inclusive and accessible experience where couples feel comfortable being themselves. Whether you’re camera shy, neurodivergent, alternative, LGBTQIA+ or simply don’t see yourselves reflected in traditional wedding photography, my goal is to create photographs that feel authentic to who you are and the people you love.
