When Bruno's human told me she had one photo she desperately wanted, I paused for a moment.
After meeting Bruno and seeing just how busy, energetic and wonderfully wild he was, I think my exact words were something along the lines of...
"I'm not going to lie, that's a really difficult photograph to capture. It needs both of you to be completely still, at the perfect height, and with Bruno being... well, Bruno... I don't think it's going to be possible."
Her face dropped.
I instantly felt like I'd shattered a dream.
But I wasn't ready to give up on it.
I suggested we leave it until the very end of the session. If Bruno settled, even just for a few minutes, we'd give it everything we had.
As the shoot went on, something changed. Bruno slowed down. He started listening. He wasn't quite as erratic, and suddenly... we had our chance.
His human knelt on the ground while we used a bench to bring Bruno up to eye level. I talked her through every little adjustment while doing everything I could to keep Bruno looking straight ahead.
My camera was in high-speed continuous mode because I knew timing would be everything.
Out of all the frames I captured, there was one.
The one.
I edited it, quietly added it into their gallery as a surprise... and, unsurprisingly, it's become their favourite. 🖤
Sometimes the photographs people want most are the hardest to create. They take patience, timing, persistence and a little bit of luck.
But if a photograph means that much to someone, I'll always do everything I can to make it happen.
