Well, 2025 is nearly over. Last New Year's Eve, I made a resolution about my photography. I decided to start using film again after many years. I bought myself a few old film cameras and experimented. I've spent the year doing a great deal of street portraits using both film and digital. This hasn't been work, but it's been my hobby, and it's provided me with fresh projects. I've also met lots of great people along the way. I'm going to end the year having accomplished a New Year's resolution, probably for the first time ever. Here's to 2026 and whatever it brings. Happy New Year to all my friends, family and clients, old and new. Here is a selection of my "photos for fun".

It's funny how I always seem to be busiest with work in the autumn. I'm not sure why that is. Last week was full of headshot shoots. People wanting a new, fresh image to kickstart their business in the new year.

I really love connecting with new people and helping them achieve what they want. I'm always respectful that people are allowing me to photograph them. I understand that it can be a daunting prospect to stand in front of a camera and not know what to do. My job is not just to click a button, but to put you at ease and give you permission to just be who you are.

The greatest pleasure I get is creating a space for people to be themselves and to see the change from cautious to relaxed. This is how, between us, we get the best images.

I really enjoyed a recent photoshoot with Jad, a creative entrepreneur who needed something a little different. She brought along one of her handmade lambswool cushions, which are beautiful and so soft. Jad normally hates having her photo taken, but told me she actually enjoyed the experience. I'm always delighted when people say that. I really do try to create a relaxed atmosphere. I'm based in Worthing and offer branding and headshots for small business owners. I've recently been doing more film photography. I've been practising the old skill by making photographs on the street. I love street portraits. I'm starting to introduce analogue film alongside digital photography in my professional work too. It's funny how we all used to shoot film without giving it a second thought back before digital. Now it seems like its a new thing. You can't see the image on the back of the camera. You have to wait a week to see the results. The great thing is we can now combine film photography with digital by scanning the negatives to use online too. Here is one of the first new street portraits I have made using black and white film.

Today on Mother’s Day I’m posting a photo I made of my mum a very long time ago. I still love this photo. To me it sums up what a great woman my mum was. Photos like this constantly remind me about the importance of having photos to keep those memories fresh. Happy Mother’s Day to all.
