That workshop you've got coming up...

You want to show it off, in style.

The challenges and successes.

The fun and the games.

The problem is... good photography can be expensive.

So, you want value for money.

You want content that lasts.

You want images you can use now and in the future.

You want pictures with purpose.

This is the second year that I've shot the Poi Passion Circus and Fire Arts poi workshop at Wild Heart Hill. It was a good chance to practice what I learned from the first one.

People want to celebrate what they've achieved. They want to see their progress and enjoy their success. And yes, they want to look good, happy, confident, [etc.]. Often, they don't mind telling you what the [etc.] is, if you don't mind listening.

Sometimes, they'll also tolerate a little disruption to their practice. Again, if you don't mind listening, you'll learn just how much each person will actually tolerate.

Done right, you get some pleasingly peaceful shots

A final batch of photos that I took with Kodak Portra 400

This was the first roll I put through the camera, and I mostly shot them around town, too excited to wait for a special occasion to test it out.

The first picture in particular took a lot of patience - and probably used quite a lot of battery - as I stood for ages waiting for someone to pass by slowly enough to capture them. Then someone chose to pause exactly in the middle of the circle, so I had bags of time to get the shot away! Thanks, someone.

Another little selection of images taken on Portra 400

I read recently that colour film often struggles with greens. I've not shot on enough different colour stock to know for sure. I do know, though, that these greens look okay to me!

I bought a couple of rolls of Kodak Portra 400 recently, as I wanted to try colour film for a change.

It's pretty obvious why it's still so popular. What beautiful colours. And so smooth, too. Other than a little bit of straightening and some lens correction in Lightroom, these are exactly how the scans came back from Picture this film lab.

Shame it's so damn expensive. Just look at those colours!

May is always a busy time for me, photographically. This year, it has been doubly so.

These pictures were from Saturday the 2nd, as The Wellderness held our annual Beltane fire and feast festival at the seaside near Goring Gap.

Against the backdrop of trees and sea, we invited the Gathering Light Choir to lead us in song, as they have for the past few years.

Photographically, there is always plenty of potential to get some great shots, with some interesting framing opportunities.

Last week, I shot the Worthing & Adur Chamber Of Commerce AGM for the second year in a row.

The lighting can be tricky and the outdoors shots were very windy. I got some lovely images though. More to follow.

A few more from our bluebell walk around Angmering Woods.

I learned a new editing trick since the previous post and I think these images are much better for it.

They're not very bluebelly as a set, but I like them!

This week, we've had that wonderful combination of stunning sunsets and low tides. On Wednesday, we got down onto the foreshore for a walk - I couldn't resist a few photos!
