I’m so proud of my friends at Done Together CIC and the huge success of their Afro Hair workshops.
Natalie Edwards is always championing for communities that need it, for educating people and to benefit wrexham.
I volunteer my time for the girls at DoneTogether because I genuinely love working with them. The workshops they have put on for children’s university and now for done together are great, educational events and I hope this gains them a lot more recognition.

It was an honour to attend two of the workshops to document the events for them and even more exciting to see my photography from the events on the bbc website!

Growing up as a teenager of mixed heritage in Wrexham in the 1990s, Natalie Edwards struggled to find help with caring for her afro hair

Now, she leads workshops in north-east Wales to teach these skills and share knowledge

Today I’m thinking about the women whose strength is rarely celebrated.
The mothers raising neurodivergent children.
The carers living with chronic pain.
The women navigating systems that were never designed with them in mind.
Roles that rarely come with rest.

Photography has given me a way to witness these lives more carefully.
To slow down and notice the quiet resilience that exists inside everyday moments.

This International Women’s Day, I’m thinking about the women who keep going even when the world doesn’t see the weight they carry.

Your strength is real.
And your stories matter.

“The most powerful images reveal the quiet truths of human life.”
— Dorothea Lange

As a photographer, I feel a responsibility to keep telling these stories — the quiet ones, the honest ones, the ones that deserve to be seen.

If this resonates with you, save it or share it with a mother who might need to hear this today.

Don’t you just love it when the fog arrives and you get to experience a cinematic moment!

Life is all about moments and this kind of moment really does something to my brain…. Like asmr but visually!

Beneath the stillness of York Minster, in the half-lit quiet of the crypt, the Doomstone sits — ancient, unsettling, and eerily alive.
I photographed it in black and white, letting the shadows trace every curve of the carving — the demons, the sinners, the mouths of Hell. There’s something almost cinematic about how the light catches on the stone’s surface, revealing nine centuries of fear, faith, and storytelling.
The Doomstone was carved in the 12th century, a Norman vision of eternal judgement. Its figures twist in anguish — a warning to those who once looked upon it, now a fragment of another time, quietly surviving beneath the cathedral above.
Visiting York so close to Halloween, it felt fitting to pause here — between history and myth, light and darkness — and listen to what this old stone still whispers.

✨The Weight of Quiet ✨

As the world fades into blue, she sits between day and night — a quiet figure framed by light and reflection. Peace doesn’t always arrive with silence; sometimes it drifts in softly, between breaths.

— inspired by Gregory Crewdson’s idea that “Every photograph is a kind of stage.”

🫥 INVISIBLE ROLES 🫥

Invisible Roles is a project about the unseen work of motherhood, care, and disability.
It’s about Charlotte, a mother, a police officer, and a carer to her son, Louis, who lives with a rare genetic condition, called Tuba 1a.

For me, this project was about shining a light on the roles that often go unnoticed—the routines, the sacrifices, and the strength that mothers like Charlotte carry quietly every single day. So much of their labour is invisible to the outside world, but it is constant, vital, and full of love.

Working with Charlotte and Louis reminded me of my own life as a mother of a disabled child. Their story is personal to me, but it’s also universal. It speaks to every parent who has felt the weight of responsibility, the isolation of routine, and the power of resilience.

This has been the most meaningful work I’ve ever created. Stepping outside of focusing solely on myself allowed me to connect with their story in a deeper way, and to share something that matters far beyond my own comfort zone.

Invisible Roles is not just about documenting a family—it’s about visibility, voice, and recognising the strength and love that lives in the everyday.

I didn’t want to share my project online untill Charlotte, Louis and their family had seen it after their holiday.
Please share to anyone you think might need to see it, to know they are not alone and that as a community we are here for each other.

Marnie ❤️

📣Announcement📣
A lot of you know that I’m currently studying for my masters. My final deadline is 11th aug and I have an exhibition on 15th August. A lot of work goes into this and unfortunately I’ve hit a backlog with my photo editing.
I’m a perfectionist so I will never rush these galleries and I’ve also never been in this position of having so much work to do alongside being a mum and a student.
So it’s safe to say, I’ve found this challenging!

I’m offering compensation to the brides and grooms still waiting for their galleries, who have been waiting since March & April, im doing this because I feel awful it’s taking as long as this to fit in editing such large albums.
I don’t take it for granted that you trusted me with documenting your wedding day and I’m beyond grateful for how patient some of you have been.

Please be patient with me and know that I am going as fast as I can.

Thank you. ❤️

KELLY & CRAIG – Sneak Peek of your Special Day
30.03.2025 🌿☀️

Kelly and Craig’s wedding was nothing short of magical. The sun was shining, love was everywhere, and what made it even more special—it was Mother’s Day 💐

One of the most beautiful moments was watching Kelly’s son walk her down the aisle. His speech later in the day, filled with admiration and love for both his parents, had everyone (including me!) holding back tears.

The whole day was a perfect mix of emotion, celebration, and pure joy. These two know how to throw a party—with heartfelt sing-alongs and some seriously impressive dance moves to end the night in style! 🕺🎶

I truly hope these images capture just how special their day was.
Thank you both for letting me be a part of it 💛
