It has been a long time since I have really pursued portraiture. With the pandemic, I haven’t been able to travel as much, and when I do, people are wearing masks which just adds another layer of complexity to approaching a complete stranger. I’ve also just struggled to find the inspiration and have put off publishing my 5th book for 3 years now. But coming to Lesotho has reignited my passion for sharing the cultures of the world. People still dress very traditionally here in the villages and are very friendly and approachable. And it reminded me of why I started this project in the first place: to open a window to a world you may never be able to physically visit, and introduce you to the people that are just as human as you and I. It’s honestly such a valuable lesson during this era of mistrust, misinformation, and uncalled for violence. So I hope these portraits broaden your worldview and gives you hope for humanity.
