Big things come in small packages "sometimes". On a walk, early morning in Butre, just wandering around saying "hi" to everyone (the Ghanaian hospitality as always talked about by diasporas) I saw this group with a fresh catch from the river Butre. I asked permission to take pictures and engaged them in conversations only to find out I'm in Ahantaland, Butre is a fishing community with farmers . They have a very quiet and beautiful life . Kids partake in fishing and farming activities as early as 6 years old. There's always an adult around to supervise . The story of the Ahantas is not widely known but upon spending time in the Ahantaland I'm intrigued. There's a rich cultural background and a historical story here . Why are we not taught in school.
